Senior Backend Engineer, Security Automation

Role Description As a Senior Backend Engineer, Security Automation, you will design and implement systems that automate and improve key Security Operations Center (SOC) processes. Your work will enhance our capabilities in bot detection, fraud mitigation, phishing detection, and other security automation efforts, helping the team operate efficiently and effectively at scale. What you will do: - Design, build, and maintain automation tools and services that support core SOC operations, managing the full lifecycle from requirements to deployment. - Streamline workflows and improve security efficiency using modern technologies such as microservices, Kubernetes, Python, and message queues. - Collaborate closely with security analysts and engineers to solve complex automation and operational challenges. - Research emerging security and automation standards, identifying new technologies that strengthen our defenses and processes. - Contribute to system reliability, observability, and scalability through thoughtful automation and process design. Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in backend software development. - Proficiency in Python and familiarity with microservice-based architectures. - Deep understanding of programming best practices, design patterns, and testing methodologies. - Experience writing secure code and applying OWASP security principles. - Solid experience working with SQL databases. - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams. - Familiarity with Docker and containerized development workflows. Requirements - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration platforms (nice to have). - Familiarity with frontend technologies or frameworks (nice to have). - Experience participating in bug bounty programs or contributing to security research (for example, public CVEs) (nice to have). - Understanding of browser and network security, modern web architecture, and web automation frameworks (nice to have). - Working knowledge of Linux environments (nice to have). This team is charged with creating modern, resilient services and capabilities to service the US Government for the next decade and beyond. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in building a cutting-edge communications platform for US government satellites. You'll work as both an individual contributor and a lead for more junior engineers.
