Director, Resource Management – Creative
DEPT®
• Capacity Planning & Forecasting • Translate revenue and delivery forecasts into headcount plans and staffing strategies • Monitor supply and demand across teams to proactively identify overages, shortages, and burnout risks • Partner with Talent Acquisition to advise on hiring priorities and near-/offshore planning • Recommend freelance or cross-region support based on forecasted needs • Utilization & Operational Reporting • Own utilization targets and reporting for a defined region, discipline, or client segment • Track and report RM KPIs weekly/monthly; surface patterns and anomalies to leadership • Maintain headcount rosters, freelance usage reports, and staffing trackers • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in tools or workflows and propose improvements • Staffing Strategy & Conflict Resolution • Lead casting conversations with Delivery, Creative, Media, and Experience teams • Resolve priority or conflict escalations across projects, disciplines, and managers • Ensure optimal coverage across live and upcoming work while protecting team health • Promote fair, equitable staffing across the portfolio and recommend rotation opportunities • People Leadership & Collaboration • Manage 1–2 Resource Managers or Sr. Managers; provide coaching, performance feedback, and development • Collaborate with Delivery, Finance, Client Services, and People teams to align on headcount and margin optimization • Contribute to the evolution of resourcing processes, workflows, and craft rituals • Be a credible advisor to VPs and Group Directors; participate in key planning and operations forums
Job Requirements
- 6–9 years of experience in resource management, project operations, or production management within a digital agency or consulting environment
- Proven ability to build staffing plans, assess pipeline vs. capacity, and guide delivery teams on fulfillment strategies specifically within creative workflows
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, fluid environment with strong attention to detail, organization, and attitude to thrive, not only survive
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; familiarity with BI tools and resource management platforms (e.g., Resource Guru, Float, Kantata, Mosaic)
- Comfort managing and mentoring junior team members; prior direct people management preferred
- Strong communication and negotiation skills; able to build trust with senior stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with a passion for operational clarity, equitable staffing, and data integrity
- Experience collaborating with finance, delivery, and recruiting partners in fast-paced environments
- Curiosity and willingness to learn, experiment, and evolve in a rapidly changing industry, including comfort with AI-driven tools and new methods.
