Psychologist

San Francisco VA Medical Center

This position is part of the VISN Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) Virtual Psychotherapy Program for Caregivers (VPPC) Team, located in VISN 21. Staff within the CRH provide interprofessional services to VISN facilities that are underserved or experiencing gaps in clinicians. Conducts mental health assessments and treatment plans and psychotherapy to caregivers, families, couples, and groups to treat a variety of mental health diagnoses and disorders. Works closely with the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC), the Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS), and other CSP staff to ensure a seamless transition to appropriate services for caregivers. Coordinates with the Substance Abuse Treatment Program, PTSD program, M2VA, and other Behavioral Health services as needed. Provides crisis intervention for caregivers in Behavioral Health in the outpatient setting. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Education: Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
  • Internship: Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA.
  • Licensure: Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience as a professional psychologist for GS-12 level.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for GS-12 level:
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply a wide range of professional psychological treatments or assessment methods.
  • Ability to design and implement effective treatment strategies.
  • Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures.
  • Ability to conduct research activities.
  • Experience for GS-13 level: At least 2 years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 level.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for GS-13 level:
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, professional psychological treatments to a full range of patient populations.
  • Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of clinical research literature.
