Full TimeRemoteTeam 5,001-10,000

Role Description Unity is making a strategic investment in its ability to directly measure the effectiveness of its advertising products—specifically, whether a given ad drove an install—without relying exclusively on third-party mobile measurement partners (MMPs). The Principal Engineer for Ads Measurement will lead this effort. This role owns the vision and execution of Unity’s self-attribution capabilities, ensuring Unity can independently measure ad performance, develop reliable sources of ground truth for AI/ML optimization, and define a clear, intentional relationship with the MMP ecosystem. This leader will operate at the intersection of ads, data science, platform strategy, and developer trust, shaping how Unity measures, explains, and optimizes advertising outcomes in a fragmented and evolving measurement landscape. What you'll be doing - Architect Unity’s Measurement Foundation: Design and implement the scalable technical infrastructure required to measure install attribution and ad effectiveness independently. - Develop Self-Attribution Capabilities: Lead the engineering effort to build internal attribution signals and reliable, privacy-aware install measurement across multiple platforms. - Power AI/ML Optimization: Collaborate closely with data science and ML teams to ensure measurement data is high-quality and optimized for model training. - Technical Strategy for MMP Ecosystem: Define technical integration standards for Unity as a self-attributing network, ensuring consistent and secure data exchanges with the broader ecosystem. - Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Drive technical alignment across Ads, Data, Engineering, and Privacy teams to ensure measurement becomes a durable strategic asset. Qualifications - Senior Engineering Experience: At least seven (7) years of senior engineering experience in high-growth environments. - Programmatic Proficiency: Deep technical expertise in Golang, Java, or C++. - Technical Expertise: Extensive experience (12+ years total) in software engineering, with a focus on ad tech, attribution, or large-scale data systems. - Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the technical challenges in mobile measurement, self-attributing networks, and the MMP ecosystem. - Data & AI/ML Proficiency: Proven track record of building data foundations that support complex AI/ML-driven optimization systems. - Architectural Leadership: Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency systems that handle billions of events in a privacy-sensitive manner. Requirements - Relocation support is not available for this position. - Work visa/immigration sponsorship is not available for this position. Benefits - Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance. - Commute subsidy. - Employee stock ownership. - Competitive retirement/pension plans. - Generous vacation and personal days. - Support for new parents through leave and family-care programs. - Office food snacks. - Mental Health and Wellbeing programs and support. - Employee Resource Groups. - Global Employee Assistance Program. - Training and development programs. - Volunteering and donation matching program.
