Sr. Manager, Engineering
SailPoint
Sr. Manager, Engineering, Enterprise Platform US Remote About SailPoint SailPoint is the leader in identity security for the cloud enterprise. Our identity security solutions secure and enable thousands of companies worldwide, giving our customers unmatched visibility into the entirety of their digital workforce and ensuring every identity has the right access to do their job, no more, no less. Built on a foundation of AI and ML, our Atlas Platform delivers the right level of access to the right identities and resources at the right time, matching the scale, velocity, and changing needs of today's cloud-oriented, modern enterprise across human, machine, and AI identities. About the Role As a Senior Engineering Manager on the Enterprise Platform, you will lead one or more senior engineering teams responsible for core platform capabilities that the rest of SailPoint builds on. These teams own backend services, APIs, data stores, and the distributed systems that power the Atlas Platform at scale. As a highly technical leader, you will own the operating rhythm and delivery health of your team(s), help solve complex challenges around scalability and reliability, reduce technical debt, and shape where the team invests. You will be expected to reach productivity quickly and to operate close enough to the work to know its real state at any time. Stakeholder management is a significant aspect of this role. You will work closely with Product Management, Design, Architecture, Quality, DevOps, and customer-facing teams. You should proactively seek alignment with other engineering teams and stakeholders by deeply understanding your team's technology, building strong relationships, and insisting on high-quality solutions. You will report to a Senior Director of Engineering. Key Responsibilities · Own the day-to-day operating cadence of your team(s), including planning, prioritization, standups, and retrospectives, and use that cadence to stay close to the work, surface risks early, and keep delivery predictable. · Partner with Product Management to set a clear strategic direction and roadmap, and translate it into sequenced, well-scoped execution. · Engage substantively in technical decisions, fluent enough at the architectural level to discuss tradeoffs with senior engineers, challenge design decisions, and guide the team toward sound, scalable solutions. · Coach, grow, and develop engineers along their career paths, and shape the team through hiring and performance management. · Drive scalability, reliability, and technical-debt reduction, and determine where engineering investment should be made. · Manage risk, dependencies, and cross-team commitments, resolving issues proactively rather than escalating them. · Allocate resources across competing priorities and make clear, defensible tradeoff decisions under load. Requirements · 8+ years in a Software Engineering Management role on backend services exposing APIs. · 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Software Engineer. · Deep knowledge of complex, scaling SaaS products, agile processes and workflows, and experience implementing them. · Technical fluency at the architectural level, enabling easy discussions with engineers and the ability to challenge technical decisions. · Experience with microservice architecture and distributed systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability, and high availability. · Experience across a modern backend stack, such as polyglot services (Java, Go, Rust), event-driven and workflow-orchestration systems (Kafka, SQS, Temporal), and relational and NoSQL data stores (MySQL, DynamoDB). · Extensive experience architecting, designing, and operating applications in an AWS cloud environment. · Experience supporting and developing containerized CI/CD deployment such as Docker and Kubernetes. · BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience. Roadmap and Timeline to Success Within the first 30 days you will: · Onboard into your new role and get familiar with our product offering, platform, and technology. · Get to know your engineers and leads, understand what motivates them, and identify their areas of development. · Take ownership of your team's operating cadence, planning, standups, and retrospectives, so you have a direct, firsthand read on the team's work and its status. · Seek to deeply understand the business problems and common engineering challenges your team owns, and begin forming your own view of them. · Interview stakeholders to understand business goals, the product roadmap, and the challenges ahead. By 90 days you will: · Motivate, encourage, and challenge your team(s) to find optimal synergy. · Understand the technical challenges ahead and actively participate in technical decision-making. · Understand your team's decision-making process and challenge them to find more optimal solutions. · Know the real status of your team's critical-path work at any time, without needing it surfaced for you. · Have regular syncs with your stakeholders and own the cross-team commitments your team has made. · Be implementing fast, iterative improvements to delivery and quality. By 6 months you will: · Be making significant, measurable progress on technical debt while balancing new feature delivery and defect resolution. · Have a team that is consistently delivering on its commitments by deadline. · Have earned the trust of your team and become a respected partner to your stakeholders. · Be attracting and motivating excellent engineers who care about great teams and great software. · Have your personal goals on track. By 1 year you will: · Have a team whose size and skills are aligned to your roadmap and operating efficiently. · Have a team consistently achieving real business results and incremental milestones. · Maintain a culture of continuous learning by coaching and developing your engineers along their chosen career paths. · Consistently use data to objectively measure impact and optimize engineering processes. · Consistently meet deadlines and coordinate with technical team members to deliver quality results. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences — and we're happy to make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process if you need them.
Role Description Releaf is looking for an experienced Head of App Development to lead the strategy, architecture and delivery of our native iOS and Android applications. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and scaled consumer-facing health or wellness apps, and who understands how to turn complex clinical and patient data into simple, trustworthy mobile experiences. You will own our app roadmap end to end from technical architecture through to App Store and Google Play release. A core part of this role is our use of health and wearable data: - Deep, practical experience working with Apple HealthKit, the Apple Health app, and Apple Watch data. - Equivalent experience on Android with Health Connect and Wear OS. This is a rare opportunity to shape the mobile experience for a fast-growing healthcare business, working at the intersection of clinical care, patient engagement and consumer-grade product design. You'll work with a designer to create the UI/UX and then develop it with the developers to connect it to the backend of our bespoke system using API. We have a team of over 20 developers. What You'll Be Doing - Owning the technical strategy, development and roadmap for Releaf's native iOS and Android applications. - Leading the design and implementation of features built on Apple HealthKit and the Apple Health app, including reading, writing and visualising health data. - Integrating Apple Watch data — including activity, heart rate, sleep and other relevant metrics — into patient-facing features in a clear, intuitive UI. - Building equivalent health data experiences on Android using Health Connect and Wear OS, ensuring feature parity across platforms. - Working closely with Product, Design, Clinical and Data Protection teams to ensure features are clinically sound, intuitive, and fully compliant with healthcare data regulations. - Owning app performance, stability, release management and the end-to-end App Store / Google Play submission process. - Establishing engineering best practice across testing, CI/CD, code review and security for mobile. - Staying ahead of platform changes from Apple and Google — particularly around HealthKit, Health Connect, privacy frameworks and wearable APIs — and advising the business on their implications. - Contributing to the wider technology strategy as a senior member of the engineering leadership team. Qualifications - Proven experience leading native app development for both iOS and Android, ideally including time as a senior or lead engineer before moving into management. - Hands-on experience building features using Apple HealthKit and integrating with the Apple Health app. - Direct experience working with Apple Watch/health data (healthkit) — reading and presenting metrics such as heart rate, activity rings, sleep or workout data within a consumer app. - Working knowledge of the Android equivalent stack — Health Connect and Wear OS — and experience building comparable cross-platform health features. - Portfolio of apps that we can test the UI and functionality. - Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX principles, particularly around presenting health data in a way that is clear, reassuring and easy to act on. - Experience managing the full app lifecycle, including App Store and Google Play submission, review processes, and ongoing release management. - A track record of building, leading and growing high-performing engineering teams. - Comfortable working in a regulated environment, with an understanding of data protection and patient privacy considerations (UK GDPR, or equivalent). - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical decisions for non-technical stakeholders. Requirements - Experience in healthcare, digital health, or a regulated consumer product environment. - Familiarity with Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose at a technical depth sufficient to review architecture and code where needed. - Experience with remote patient monitoring, chronic condition management apps, or similar health-tracking products. - Exposure to clinical safety standards or medical device software regulations (e.g. UKCA/MHRA, IEC 62304) is a strong plus, though not required. - Experience working alongside clinical teams to validate the safety and accuracy of health-related features. Benefits - Flexible working. - Personalised training and development. - Private health insurance. - Employee Assistance Programmes. - Access to employee perks and Releaf staff patient benefits.
