Role Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-driven Internal Technical & Production Specialist to support the production and delivery of world-class projects across our global portfolio. This is a dynamic role that requires both project-based technical expertise and a passion for system improvement, mentorship, and coordination across multiple disciplines. Your Core Responsibilities - Project Leadership & Collaboration - Support Team Leaders in coordinating with multidisciplinary consultant teams (Structural, MEP, Landscape, Lighting, etc.) - Take ownership of project design and development deliverables, ensuring timely, high-quality output - Liaise with external consultants, contractors, architects of record, and clients - Build and maintain strong working relationships across internal teams and project stakeholders - Internal Leadership & Communication - Collaborate effectively and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities - Actively participate in office initiatives and maintain alignment with SAOTA's values, systems, and code of conduct - Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance project execution - Technical & Design Excellence - Technical Aptitude - Provide technical solutions across all project phases: from Concept Design to Construction - Produce accurate, detailed documentation including drawings, models, images, and technical packages aligned with the design brief - Offer project-wide technical support and guidance where required - Mentor junior staff in areas such as coordination, advanced materials, and sophisticated building systems - System Implementation & Innovation - Demonstrate deep understanding of design technologies and software - Implement and maintain internal technical systems to streamline delivery and ensure quality - Actively contribute to developing and refining internal tools, platforms, and workflows - Design Interpretation - Interpret design briefs and contribute meaningfully to conceptual direction - Support the team in delivering full architectural services, from presentation material to contractual documentation - Create high-quality drawings, 3D models, renders, videos, and visual presentations - Ensure all deliverables align with project design language and SAOTA standards - SAOTA Systems & Quality Assurance - Uphold and apply SAOTA's systems, standards, and structured document management protocols - Ensure project folders, records, and documentation are accurate and up to date - Participate in internal design forums and contribute to continual improvement in project delivery Qualifications - A degree or diploma in Architecture or Architectural Technology - Minimum 5 years' professional experience, including 2 years in multidisciplinary projects (South Africa or internationally) - Proficient in SAOTA's core design software (e.g. Revit, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, etc.) Requirements - Deep understanding of the architectural production process and file management - Strong problem-solving and design-thinking capabilities - Ability to accurately interpret instructions and present design decisions - Clear communicator with a collaborative, proactive attitude - Comfortable working in a multicultural, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment - Able to manage confidential information and work under pressure - Available to travel if needed Behavioural Attributes - Flexible, resourceful, and self-motivated - Displays initiative and a strong sense of responsibility - Excellent judgement and high-level professionalism - Enthusiastic about personal and professional development - Willingness to work additional hours as required, including occasional weekends Benefits - Work alongside some of the industry's most innovative minds on iconic, globally recognized projects - Culture of excellence, mentorship, and ongoing growth - Supported by systems and values that champion design, precision, and people
