Job Description

Senior Controller

YAZIO

• Build, own and drive the monthly close end-to-end, ensuring fast, accurate and well-coordinated financial reporting with Accounting and key stakeholders • Review and sign off on accruals, cut-off entries, reconciliations and reporting packages for Management and FP&A • Act as the primary go-to for technical accounting questions, supporting new business models, contracts and complex accounting treatments • Develop and maintain technical accounting documentation and position papers (for example, revenue recognition, capitalization, leases and other complex topics) • Manage and coordinate external partners including accountants, tax advisors and auditors, ensuring strong documentation quality and smooth collaboration • Continuously strengthen internal controls by spotting anomalies, following up on open items and improving control effectiveness over time • Drive process and system improvements to reduce manual effort, increase close efficiency and build scalable, well-documented workflows • Use AI tools to support analysis, variance explanations, audit preparation and accounting research—while ensuring full critical review and accountability for outputs • Build a modern, scalable finance function through automation, standardization and continuous improvement

Job Requirements

  • Several years of hands-on experience in Accounting, Controlling or Financial Reporting, ideally in fast-scaling environments with increasing complexity
  • Prior experience leading or coordinating a small accounting team is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of German HGB; IFRS exposure is a plus
  • Proven ownership of the full monthly close cycle, ensuring accuracy, completeness and high-quality reporting end-to-end
  • Strong internal controls mindset with the ability to proactively identify risks, design controls and continuously improve processes
  • Advanced DATEV skills and confidence working with accounting systems and financial data
  • Comfortable using AI tools to enhance productivity (for example, research, documentation, anomaly detection, reporting support) while applying strong critical judgment on outputs
  • Structured, documentation-first working style with a strong focus on audit readiness and transparency
  • Strong drive for process improvement with a sharp eye for inefficiencies and scalable solutions
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating with external accountants, tax advisors and auditors
  • Growth mindset and a proactive approach to staying up to date with changes in accounting and tax regulation (e.g., HGB, VAT and IFRS)
