Role Description The Business Data Analyst is central to the Decision Support Department, providing the strategic foundation necessary for the school's growth and success. This role plays a critical strategic and operational support function by conducting rigorous quantitative analysis. The Analyst will deliver data-driven insights to the executive leadership and operational units, ensuring that all key decisions are informed, effective, and fully aligned with the school's strategic mission and long-term objectives. - Data Wrangling (Extract, Prep, Transform) - Aggregating, calculating, transforming, and converting data - Ensuring data accuracy and relevance - Creating Visualizations - Distributing visual insights to stakeholders via multiple methods - Making data accessible and understandable - Data Security and Compliance - Safeguarding sensitive information - Ensuring adherence to data security protocols - Creating Dashboards and Ad Hoc Reports - Utilizing tools like Tableau, Power BI, Power Query, and Excel - Presenting data in formats tailored to the school and its leadership Qualifications - 3+ years of professional data analysis experience - Expertise in Financial, Human Resources, student, or similar enterprise datasets - Highly proficient in data visualization using Tableau - Skilled in data wrangling/transformation techniques - Working knowledge of Python (or R) for data analysis and scripting - Solid understanding of database structures (SQL) and data collection methodologies (e.g., surveys, tests) - Background in Data Analytics, Statistics, or Computer Science - Familiarity with the Workday system is a plus Requirements - Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree - Minimum Experience: 1 year - Minimum Field of Expertise: Proficient PC skills - Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and statistical software programs - Knowledge of business statistics and data analyses techniques - Ability to manage and analyze data - Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Benefits To support the well-being of our faculty and staff, USC provides benefits-eligible employees with a broad range of perks to help protect their and their dependents’ health, wealth, and future.
