Principal Specialist – Global Trade, Customs

• Lead the US Customs Entry Management process, reviewing and updating customs information, including duty mitigation opportunities. • Analysis of customs data to strategically address tariff impact and duty mitigation programs, such as Free Trade Agreements, Civil Aircraft program, Duty Drawback. • Coordinate the gathering of supporting evidence for post-entry claims • Coordinate, prepare, and review Value Reconciliation submissions with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). • Draft responses to CBP CF28 Requests for Information and other customs-related inquiries. • Assist Customs Manager and Customs team on projects, tactical activities, strategic activities, training, and other customs activities as needed. • Monitor changes in U.S. customs regulations, tariffs, trade agreements, and CBP requirements, ensuring company compliance and recommending process improvements. • Availability to work from closest Collins site when needed for collaboration.
Job Requirements
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, CBP procedures, and import compliance.
- Understanding and past involvement with trade measures imposed under section 122 and section 232.
- Experience with US duty mitigation programs, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Duty Drawback, Civil Aircraft Program
- Experience with US post-entry processes, including post summary corrections, value reconciliation, and FTA reconciliation
- Experience with importer data review, US Customs ACE system and US Customs broker portals
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office applications, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- 5 years customs experience, preferably in the aerospace industry
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker is highly preferred.
- Experience with duty mitigation analysis
- Experience with SAP/GTS or other ERP application
