Primary Market Research Analyst Intern

• Bring genuine curiosity to study objectives, therapy areas, and the bigger picture, from product lifecycle strategy to client account dynamics. • Build foundational knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, the asset development lifecycle, and the broader life sciences landscape. • Develop expertise across Blue Matter’s research methodologies and learn to speak fluently to the strengths, trade-offs, and applications of each. • Own your responsibilities by delivering consistent, on-time work across every project you touch. • Invest in our culture through internal initiatives, team-building, and peer collaboration. • Support end-to-end project execution across both qualitative and quantitative (survey-based) research studies. • Contribute to project discussions through active listening, thoughtful note-taking, background research, and sharing ideas. • Help develop research materials, including discussion guides, surveys, status updates, and analysis plans. • Execute rigorous quality control, managing data processing activities such as data entry and verification with care and precision. • Support report development alongside the research team to build report templates and synthesize findings into clear insights. • Coordinate timelines across internal teams, external vendors, and clients to keep projects on track. • Drive post-meeting momentum by proactively identifying and tracking action items.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant internship/work experience a plus
- Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in healthcare, life sciences, business, behavioral science, or a related field
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Slack, Zoom, and Google Drive
- Basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Sharp critical thinking and analytical reasoning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to distill and summarize large amounts of information into clear takeaways

Role Description The Market & Competitive Intelligence Analyst is a remote, data-focused role responsible for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing market, demographic, and competitive data to support investment and operating decisions across the self-storage portfolio. This analyst turns fragmented data into actionable insights and dashboards that inform market selection, acquisitions, pricing, and repositioning strategies. - Support the design, build, and ongoing refinement of the internal quarterly market report, including market- and asset-level metrics, trends, and insights that support asset management decision-making. - Maintain and enhance a standardized market and asset scoring model that incorporates saturation metrics, rents, demographics, and performance KPIs. - Use internal systems to pull, process, and map demographic, psychographic, and competitive data for existing assets and target submarkets. - Produce recurring portfolio-level dashboards and reports that track KPIs by property and market, including occupancy, rate positioning, discounting, and competitive conditions. - Support Asset Management in evaluating repositioning, expansion, and capital investment opportunities. - Provide acquisitions support by supplying market and competitive data, scoring outputs, and mapping for potential investments. - Conduct ongoing competitive and market monitoring of key trade areas and summarize the implications for operations and strategy. - Help design and maintain a centralized market and competitive intelligence repository. - Collaborate with other departments to understand their questions, translate them into analytical tasks, and deliver clear, structured outputs.
