Role Description SES Constructors, LLC is growing! We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate should be versed in preparing detailed estimates for projects based on construction plans, specifications, and scopes of work. Job Location: This is a remote position and will require candidates to be in EST or CST, and travel may be required from time to time. Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000/annual We offer a great benefits package complete with: - Medical - Dental - Vision - FSA - 401K matching - Profit sharing - Paid time off (PTO) Responsibilities - Produce self-perform heavy civil cost estimates including crew assemblies and production rates based on various project size, scope, and mix within the heavy civil market. - Furnish accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costs. - Identify, source and analyze potential subcontractor and vendor quotes to determine comprehensive, best value partnerships. - Identify, quantify, and evaluate potential risks, and develop a plan for how operations will address them. - Prepare, seek review of, and submit inquiries to clients regarding drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. - Collaborate with a team of in-house professionals from both office and field backgrounds in preparation of each estimate. - Meet interim estimate milestones to allow for successive review by team members and superiors, such as constructability and productivity reviews. - Support constructability reviews through communication with the project team, designers, and subcontractor market. - Interact with Operations and support operational needs after award including potential alternates, options, discussion of bid-day assessments, and potential site conditions differing from those scoped in the contracting documents. Qualifications - A bachelor's degree, preferably in construction management or civil engineering, is required. - Must have field experience in self-perform contracting of all civil infrastructure scopes of work including earthwork/grading, underground utilities (e.g., water/sewer/storm), dewatering, demolition, road construction and repair, dam/levee construction and/or repair, and pavement/flatwork preparation. - Minimum of 10 years’ estimating experience in the heavy civil construction industry. - Experience estimating federal projects is preferred. - Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. - Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. - Ability to research each pursuit thoroughly, orally and graphically present a pursuit to a group, clearly communicate the logic used to construct the pursuit estimate, and modify the logic of the estimate to match a group consensus for each pursuit. - Experience with spreadsheets, word processing, CPM scheduling, and estimating software such as B2W Bid2Win, HCSS Heavy Bid, etc. Requirements - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Employees must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness. - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time. - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. - The employee is regularly required to hear, talk, sit, and use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and phone. - The employee may be occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust vision.
