Senior Power Systems Engineer
Equipment & Controls, Inc.
• Perform system studies on electrical distribution, generation, and transmission systems • Direct other engineers on a project-by-project basis • Perform short circuit calculations, overcurrent coordination, load flow, and arc flash analyses • Discuss and meet with customers to ensure system studies are completed on time • Perform simulations related to harmonics, transients, and stability • Create detailed and accurate customer reports with clear conclusions and recommendations • Minor travel to customer’s site (5-15%)
Job Requirements
- EI or EIT Certification and desire to obtain PE license
- 6+ years of experience in power systems analysis and project management preferred
- Experience in industrial or utility distribution and transmission analysis, substation design, electrical power system protection and control, and Arc Flash analysis
- Skill in using engineering analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, EDSA, Windmil, PSPICE, or similar applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

As an Electrical Engineer, your main responsibility will be for design, development, implementation, and analysis of electrical designs and systems. For the Arc Flash program, you will be responsible for streamlining and formalizing our program requirements and processes. - Collects and prepares data/information and performs engineering calculations. - Responsible for the production of drawings that are of high quality, consistent, complete, and accurate. - Develops technical specifications & data sheets. - Assists in field work, checking installations, and problem solving activities. - Performs calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews. - Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information. - Knowledgeable in the design of electrical systems including lighting, power, life safety, security, and communication systems for commercial buildings. - Confers with project staff for resourcing availability. - Coordination between all A/E disciplines on a project. - Ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. - Assist in the preparation of project reports for management, client, or others. - Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. - Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies. - Construction administration, shop drawings review, response to request for information. - Expands the company’s engineering breadth by growing and maintaining client relationships.
