Precast Drafting Quality Control Coordinator
The Consulting Engineers Group An Illinois Corporation
• Act as the primary quality control checker of erection drawings and production shop tickets on assigned projects. • Act as the primary drafting contact for project managers, engineers, and clients. • Attend project meetings to provide drafting updates and address technical concerns. • Review and interpret architectural, construction, and structural drawings, plans, and details from AutoCAD, Revit, and PDF documents. • Review precast concrete shop drawings, reinforcement details, and 3D models for accuracy and adherence to project specifications. • Enforce company drafting standards and implement best practices for quality assurance. • Work closely with engineers and project managers to identify and resolve design inconsistencies. • Improve drafting workflows, model organization, and file management. • Work with project teams to ensure constructability of designs. • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback for drafters.
Job Requirements
- Use of modeling/drafting software tools such as AutoCAD and/or Revit is required.
- Understanding of precast detailing, reinforcement, connections, tolerances, and construction processes is strongly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and manage work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- High level of adaptability and flexibility to perform tasks from other job titles as circumstances require to enhance overall productivity and success.
- Vocation/Technical School certification, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in precast concrete drafting, checking, BIM modeling, or related field with emphasis on quality control.
- Prior experience leading a drafting team or mentoring junior drafters is preferred.
