Job Description
Software Architect – System Designer
Powerprozesse GmbH
• Own the system design – you decide how data is modeled, where state lives, how components talk to each other, and how the whole system behaves under load • Design and own our data layer from the ground up – tables and relationships, indexing strategy, and query/load optimization that holds up as data and traffic grow • Design queues, background jobs and long-running workflows that stay correct and reliable under heavy load and partial failure • Make the hard, hard-to-reverse design decisions early – and reason explicitly about the trade-offs behind them • Develop and maintain our web application • Contribute to architecture decisions, the direction of our stack, and the overall product vision • Build robust pipelines for document- & email processing and 3rd-party-integrations that handle volume spikes gracefully • Build and optimize agents for our growing template-library • Extend our RAG / knowledge base system (embeddings, semantic search, reranking) • Operate in an AI-first development setup powered by Claude/Cursor • Manage version control and team collaboration via GitHub
Job Requirements
- A genuine systems-design background – you can design a database from scratch (tables, relationships, indexes) and reason about database load, query performance and data growth, not just write CRUD against an existing schema
- The instinct to think in terms of consistency, throughput, failure modes and bottlenecks – you know where the system will hurt before it does
- Comfort designing queues, background jobs and long-running workflows, and the judgment to make the hard design trade-offs they involve
- You treat reliability, scalability and maintainability as default concerns. If you've read "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" (Kleppmann) – or simply think that way – you'll feel right at home here
- Solid English skills for smooth communication within the team
Benefits
- 100% remote work
- Permanent contract in your country of residence through our partner Deel (Employer of Record)
- AI-first mindset – make use of multiple Claude / Cursor / Codex subscriptions depending on your needs
- A software that our customers are genuinely excited about
- Modern tech stack – you'll work exclusively with cutting-edge technologies
- Job security: Everyone we bring on is meant to grow with us over the long term. Every hire is aimed at permanent employment.
- Strong pay & career prospects: We'll continue growing and expanding in the years to come. To do that, we need more experts and/or leaders on board.
- Flexible working hours
