GW Monitoring Technician
Globalstar
• Perform hands-on technical work of instrumenting Gateway facility infrastructure for monitoring • Configure equipment for monitoring at the device and protocol level • Implement and maintain coverage in the monitoring platforms (Virtana and Grafana) • Build and maintain device monitoring in Virtana and Zenoss • Develop and maintain Grafana dashboards across the monitoring hierarchy • Translate commissioning and client datapoint/alarm requirements into implemented monitoring coverage • Validate polled values against equipment displays and commissioning records, and document the resulting point and register mappings • Maintain monitoring documentation per site • Support commissioning and site-readiness validation by configuring and verifying monitoring for new and upgraded equipment • Triage and resolve monitoring gaps, false or nuisance alarms, and stale or missing points
Job Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in electronics, electrical, instrumentation and controls, network/IT, or a related technical discipline
- 3+ years in monitoring, NOC, BMS/controls, instrumentation, or comparable roles within critical facilities, data centers, telecom/teleport, utilities, or industrial 24/7 operations
- Hands-on experience with network/infrastructure monitoring platforms (Virtana, Zenoss, or comparable such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or LibreNMS)
- Proficiency building and maintaining Grafana dashboards
- Working knowledge of SNMP and MIB/OID structures, Modbus (TCP/RTU), and BACnet/IP
- Familiarity with BMS/DDC platforms (Niagara/JACE)
- Understanding of critical facility equipment — UPS, ATS/STS, generators, CRAC/CRAH, PDUs, power metering, and environmental sensors
- Basic scripting and query skills (e.g., PromQL/Flux, SQL, Python, or shell) are an advantage
