Role Description Stronger Consulting is seeking a driven and purpose-led Director of Business Development to fuel our next chapter of growth. In this full-cycle sales role, you will build and cultivate relationships with nonprofit and charter school leaders, identify new opportunities, and close enterprise-level consulting engagements. This is not a role for someone waiting to be told what to do. You must be a self-starter who brings their own network, thrives in consultative sales, and is genuinely energized by the mission behind the work. OTE: $120,000–$150,000 | Base Salary: $60,000–$75,000 Location: Remote | Department: Business Development Key Responsibilities - Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and outreach to proposal, negotiation, and close, targeting nonprofits and charter networks with $20M+ in revenue. - Build and leverage a pre-existing network in the nonprofit/social sector to generate pipeline and open doors to new engagements. - Drive consultative, advisory-style sales conversations with senior leaders, understanding client challenges and positioning Stronger Consulting's services as the strategic solution. - Develop and execute a multithreading strategy to engage multiple stakeholders within prospect organizations and manage complex, longer-cycle deals. - Maintain accurate pipeline activity in the CRM; use AI tools to enhance prospecting, outreach, and research efficiency. - Represent Stronger Consulting at sector conferences, convenings, and industry events to elevate brand visibility and cultivate relationships. - Collaborate with the leadership team on go-to-market strategy, refining messaging and identifying new market opportunities. - Provide regular pipeline updates and revenue forecasts to leadership; contribute to business development strategy and planning. Qualifications - Proven track record in full-cycle, consultative/advisory sales with demonstrated ability to source, develop, and close enterprise-level deals. - Direct experience selling into nonprofits and/or public school districts and charter school networks; familiarity with the decision-making dynamics of social-sector organizations. - Existing extensive national network within the nonprofit sector that can be activated from day one. - Strong relationship-building skills; able to build trust with executive and senior-level stakeholders over long sales cycles. - Proficiency with CRM platforms and AI-enabled sales tools. - Demonstrated understanding of multithreading and managing complex, multi-stakeholder deals. - A self-directed, proactive work style; comfortable driving activity without a playbook. - Mission alignment: genuine commitment to the work of strengthening nonprofits and social-sector organizations. Requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience (degree preferred but not required). - Experience at a consulting firm or professional services organization. - Background in selling services to organizations with $20M+ budgets. - Familiarity with the charter school, school district, or K-12 education sector. - Comfort attending and networking at national or regional nonprofit sector conferences. Role Description Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) and its partner organizations, Education Reform Now (ERN) and Education Reform Now Advocacy (ERNA), are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Senior Director of Development to lead the organization's fundraising strategy and revenue growth. This role is responsible for building and sustaining diverse philanthropic and political revenue streams across DFER's 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and Federal PAC entities, while managing and developing a three-person development team. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in development and donor relations within a complex, politically engaged nonprofit environment. They will work closely with the President and senior leadership to set and execute an ambitious fundraising agenda in service of DFER's mission to increase the number of Democratic leaders who enthusiastically champion innovative, evidence-based, high-quality options for all students, particularly students of color, students from low-income backgrounds, and other historically underserved students. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States and will be required to submit proof of eligibility. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Qualifications - 5 to 9 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, with a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding ambitious fundraising goals. - Experience managing fundraising across multiple entity types (C3, C4, and/or PAC contexts) strongly preferred. - Proven success in individual major gifts, foundation relations, and/or political fundraising. - Experience managing and developing development staff in a fast-paced, matrixed organization. - Background in education, political, or advocacy-focused nonprofit environments strongly preferred. Requirements - Ability to develop and implement long-term fundraising strategies while balancing the immediate needs of a growing organization. - Expertise in cultivating and managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, political stakeholders, and institutional partners. - Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold accountable a development team to achieve shared revenue goals. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling donor-facing materials and make persuasive asks. - Strong skills in pipeline management, fundraising analytics, and CRM utilization to drive decision-making. - Highly organized, results-driven, and skilled at managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
