Legal Support Specialist – Part-Time

• Support the legal needs of uShip and its wholly owned subsidiary • Analyze, summarize, and respond to legal requests and other documents (e.g. subpoenas) • Conduct legal research and assist in preparing documentation. • Cooperate with law enforcement in escalated disputes • Perform administrative duties including the tracking and cataloguing of contracts • Draft, review, and interpret a variety of corporate / transactional contracts (MSAs, NDAs, vendor agreements) • Assist Corporate Counsel in their role of Data Protection Officer (DPO) by researching privacy laws (GDPR (EU/UK), CPRA, TDPSA) and proposing risk mitigation strategies. • Establish best practices and legal processes aligned with business needs. • Provide legal research and guidance to cross-functional teams. • Support copyright portfolio management and brand protection efforts. • Create legal education materials for internal teams. • Assist with miscellaneous legal matters including business licenses, insurance, sustainability, employment, and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements
- Paralegal certification or relevant experience in a legal support role.
- Experience with legal research platforms (FastCase, Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Working knowledge of legal research and writing and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, remain organized, and document progress
- Exhibit accountability, reliability, and initiative
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism and ethics
- Exceptional organizational and presentation skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
