Manager, Mechanical Engineering
STACK Infrastructure
Role Description The Manager, Mechanical Engineering will support innovation initiatives, assist with campus master planning, and provide technical and project support to the Director, Mechanical Engineering for campus-scale construction projects. This role ensures cost-effective and energy-efficient data center facilities are designed, procured, and operated to meet current and future needs of the company. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Manage the preparation and review of project contract documents produced by third-party design consultants. - Ensure project designs are completed on schedule and within budget. - Provide engineering expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems within the company’s existing facilities. - Assist in developing and maintaining equipment specifications for owner furnished and contractor installed (OFCI) equipment and systems. - Support procurement of OFCI equipment and systems through vendor submittal reviews, approvals, and factory witness testing. - Maintain and update legacy basis of design documents. - Contribute to the development of new basis of design documents for emerging business needs. - Identify and recommend technologies and systems that improve energy and cost efficiency within the company’s data centers. - Support communication and implementation of engineering and design standards, practices, and security measures to ensure consistency across projects. - Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering related to mission-critical facilities. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience. - Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred but not required. - 5–7 years of experience in the design of data centers and specification of HVAC equipment for mission-critical facilities. - Knowledge of IT cooling technologies, both air and direct-to-chip liquid. - Understanding of mechanical cooling system controls. - Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. - Baseline proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
