Junior AI Prompt Engineer

Ignite IT - Innovation & Technology

• Work with stakeholders to understand business processes, gather requirements, identify operational pain points, and evaluate opportunities for AI adoption. • Design, test, refine, and document reusable prompts and prompt workflows for approved large language model platforms. • Develop and support AI-enabled workflows that improve operational efficiency and automate manual processes. • Support demonstrations, training sessions, and user adoption activities that help stakeholders effectively leverage AI capabilities. • Use approved AI platforms to assist stakeholders with research, summarization, reporting, analysis, and development of decision-support content. • Evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, reliability, and alignment with mission requirements. • Research emerging AI capabilities and identify practical use cases that support mission objectives. • Support rapid prototyping, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of AI solutions. • Document AI use cases, workflows, findings, lessons learned, and recommendations. • Collaborate with technical teams to support deployment and integration efforts. • Identify opportunities for advanced AI capabilities, automation, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic AI solutions and coordinate with technical teams as needed.

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience applying AI tools to solve business, operational, academic, or technical problems.
  • Experience designing, testing, or refining prompts for generative AI platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with workflow automation tools such as n8n, Make.com, Zapier, LangFlow, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts.
  • Experience with AI agents, chatbots, or conversational AI solutions.
  • Exposure to APIs, scripting, software development, or low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, or improving business processes.
  • Experience supporting AI adoption, user training, or technology implementation efforts.
  • Experience working in a federal government environment.
  • Familiarity with prompt evaluation, output validation, and responsible AI practices.
