Job Description
Certified Coder – Anesthesiology
WashU IT
• Reviews medical record documentation to determine appropriate billing codes and necessary documentation • Reviews surgical documentation in the record to identify all pertinent facts necessary to select the comprehensive diagnoses and procedures • Codes evaluation and management services and procedures for pain management to appropriate CPT code and ICD-10 code • Contacts with physicians to review documentation, resolve coding and secure signature of all unsigned dates of service • Assists with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials)
- Previous coding experience or equivalent experience to an associate’s degree in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred
- Computer Systems, CPT Coding, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology skills
