Responsibilities - Develop architectural drawing packages for data center deployment projects using Revit. - Coordinate closely with Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil teams to ensure integrated project delivery. - Adapt standardized building solutions to meet local jurisdictional requirements and project-specific constraints. - Support permit submissions and assist with responses to plan review comments from local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). - Participate in life safety and code analysis efforts, including occupant load calculations, egress strategies, and accessibility compliance. - Assist with preparation of code analysis sheets, life safety plans, and permit documentation. - Design and coordinate building envelope systems, including pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) components and waterproofing details. - Produce site plans that account for operational requirements, logistics, utility coordination, and future expansion opportunities. - Maintain architectural Revit models and ensure proper coordination with linked consultant models. - Develop and maintain architectural details, schedules, and standardized project components. - Support internal design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve deployment efficiency. - Participate in occasional meetings with regulatory officials, consultants, and project stakeholders as needed. Qualifications - Bachelor's (B.Arch) or Master's (M.Arch) degree in Architecture. - 5+ years of architectural experience. - Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit for BIM modeling and documentation. - Experience producing construction documents and coordinating multidisciplinary projects. - Working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and accessibility requirements under ADA and ANSI A117.1. - Excellent communication and organizational skills. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Requirements - Experience with mission-critical or data center facilities. - Understanding of the design coordination and delivery requirements common in fast-track data center environments. - Experience coordinating with large multidisciplinary consultant teams. - Familiarity with permit submissions and responses to AHJ comments. Bonus points - Registered Architect (RA) license. - NCARB certification. - Experience with modular construction, prefabrication, or containerized architecture. - Knowledge of pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) systems. - Experience with design-build or fast-track project delivery. - Familiarity with NFPA 101 and life safety planning. - Experience creating standardized architectural solutions for repeatable deployment. - Startup or high-growth company experience. - Experience with industrial occupancy classifications and mixed-use interpretations. - Familiarity with architectural visualization tools such as Enscape, Lumion, or Twinmotion. Who we hire We hire people who thrive in chaos and get sharper under pressure. You don't wait to be told what to do, you spot the gap and fill it. When there's work to be done, you do it. You make decisions with the information you have, move fast, and adjust along the way. We're not looking for perfect; we're looking for people who get things done. • Own Enterprise Architecture: Consolidate the disparate architectural conventions of acquired entities into a single set of enterprise standards, reference architectures, and playbooks. • Publish NorthStar Principles: Define, publish, and maintain the NorthStar technical principles—covering front-end frameworks, back-end services, authentication, data platform, and CI/CD—and keep them current as technology evolves. • Drive Enterprise Technology Decisions: Lead enterprise-level technology choices (e.g., AI tooling, UI stack, CIAM, data platform) with clear rationale, and ensure consistent adoption across all engineering teams. • Promote shared component libraries, common patterns, and a consistent look, feel, and engineering experience across all JD Power products. • Lead Enterprise Architecture Team: Build, mentor, and direct a small, high-caliber team of enterprise architects responsible for cross-cutting and enterprise-scope initiatives. • Lead the Architect Guild: Lead the guild of architects embedded within engineering teams under the SVP of Engineering—setting their charter, raising their capability, and aligning their work to enterprise standards while preserving team autonomy. • Establish a federated (hybrid) governance model that balances local team ownership of system-level decisions with enterprise consistency on cross-cutting concerns. • Develop architecture talent, define career paths and expectations for architects across the organization, and grow the bench of senior technical leaders. • Design and run a two-tier architecture review process: product-specific reviews led by embedded architects, and enterprise-level reviews led by the enterprise architecture team. • Stand up and lead an architecture council—comprising enterprise, embedded, and TechOps architects—to evaluate initiatives of enterprise scope and resolve cross-cutting design decisions. • Integrate architecture review into the quarterly planning cadence, with clear triggers, standardized review artifacts, and a documented path for escalation from team-level to enterprise-level review. • Centralize architecture review artifacts and decisions (e.g., ADRs) so that rationale is transparent, discoverable, and reusable across the organization. • Partner closely with the SVP of Engineering, the VP of Infrastructure, TechOps, and Security to ensure architecture decisions are practical, secure, and operable. • Provide executive leadership with clear visibility into key architectural decisions, technical risk, and standards adoption across the engineering organization. • Influence engineering teams toward sound architecture through clarity, credibility, and collaboration rather than mandate alone.
