Role Description The Network Inventory GIS Engineer supports the organization’s GIS network inventory. This role is responsible for managing small to medium network GIS inventory projects (data conversion, data migration, data cleanse), network inventory feature development, network inventory defect identification, new technology modeling, training, and general support of peer organizations use of GIS network inventory. Also responsible for creating, modifying, researching, and maintaining various types of geospatial data (polygons, KMZ, SHP). Location: This is a Work from Home position within the U.S. Main Responsibilities - Performs basic network inventory data corrections, data analysis, and redlining. - Performs ticket closure for network inventory related tickets (TIER1). - Contributes to network inventory data mapping and data migrations. - Contributes to network inventory design and feature development (user stories). - Performs network inventory system and script testing. - Performs basic network inventory process analysis and process development. - Performs small/individual project management, such as tracking project progress, identifying and resolving issues, and adjusting project plans as necessary. - Contributes to release notes and features. - Performs network inventory administration such as user maintenance. - Contributes to network inventory training and job aid creation. - Performs geospatial analysis. - Generates map files (KMZ, Shape). Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field. - 2+ years of experience in GIS engineering, analysis, or network inventory. - Strong understanding of GIS concepts, technologies, and tools, including ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and open-source GIS tools. - Experience with GIS analysis, including spatial analysis, network analysis, and data visualization. - Familiarity with OSP network inventory systems (3GIS, GE Smallworld, OSPI). - Familiarity with CAD software. - Advanced MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors. - $67,703 - $90,270 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, WY. - $71,088 - $94,784 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, RI. - $74,474 - $99,297 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, WA. • Designing scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise network architectures (LAN / WAN / WLAN / Data Center / Cloud) • Developing and maintaining network diagrams, standards, and documentation • Evaluating new technologies and recommending improvements to existing infrastructure • Configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless systems • Managing and optimizing SD-WAN, VPNs, and remote-access solutions • Ensuring uptime and performance of network systems through proactive monitoring and tuning • Overseeing lifecycle management including patching, upgrades, and hardware refreshes • Implementing and maintaining network security controls (ACLs, IPS/IDS, segmentation, firewalls) • Collaborating with cybersecurity teams on risk assessments, audits, and incident response • Ensuring compliance with corporate security policies and industry best practices • Designing and supporting hybrid-cloud connectivity (Azure, AWS, etc) • Developing network automation scripts and tools using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible • Integrating network infrastructure with cloud-native services and virtualization platforms • Leading network projects from design through execution and post-implementation support • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers • Partnering with cross-functional teams (Server, Security, Applications, Operations) to support business objectives • Serving as an escalation point for complex network issues
