Role Description We are looking for a Java Engineer! - Implement microservices for our new cloud-native platform, including envisioning, designing, creating, deployment automation, and monitoring. - Apply expertise in software development to design and implement solutions that meet high requirements on quality and scalability. - Evaluate supplier API specifications to inform business/functional requirements and user experience. - Conduct code reviews. - Identify and communicate development-related dependencies to internal and external teams as needed. - Communicate technical solutions' capabilities and limitations in language accessible to team members of varying technical expertise. Qualifications - 7+ years of professional software development experience. - 3+ years of experience programming in Java. - Experience with various programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C#) and open-source technologies (Linux, Spring, SOA). - Experience with SSO and external authentication. - Experience with primary AWS-managed services, including SQS, S3, SNS, Cognito, and ApiGateway. Requirements - Bonus Points for experience working with Agile methodologies. - Experience with Docker. - Experience with Contentful. - Experience with DataDog. - Experience in the Travel industry. Role Description - Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java-based RESTful APIs and microservices serving member-facing digital products. - Build and evolve core Member Services platform capabilities including account management, card servicing, rewards, benefits inquiry, and transaction history. - Develop event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka for real-time member data processing, notifications, and service orchestration. - Implement GraphQL APIs to support flexible, efficient data delivery to mobile and web front-end clients. - Ensure API contracts are robust, versioned, well-documented, and backward-compatible across consumer teams. - Design loosely coupled, independently deployable microservices following domain-driven design (DDD) principles. - Deploy and manage services on cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) using containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes / OpenShift). - Implement service mesh patterns, circuit breakers, retries, and rate limiting for resilient inter-service communication.
