Role Description DLH Corp is looking for a Public Health Research Analyst, using SAS or R, to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This position is 100% remote. However, employees may be required to attend occasional in-person meetings, trainings, or team events on an as-needed basis. To support onboarding and compliance requirements, candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; or Washington, DC. Access to one of these secure office locations is required for smart card issuance, background investigation processing, and other periodic administrative or security-related activities. CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) is charged with preventing HIV infection and reducing the incidence of HIV-related illness and death. The overarching objectives of the contract held by DLH are to assist DHP in addressing its public health mission by providing data management, data governance, data analysis, and data dissemination support to strengthen the nationwide capacity to monitor the HIV epidemic. - Develop SAS programs for validating surveillance, clinical, or research study data. - Verify that all variables that should be included in the resulting dataset are present in the dataset and extraneous variables are excluded. - Identify data discrepancies and other inconsistencies in the resulting dataset. - Develop codebooks and data management plans. - Run duplicate procedures and comparison of results to ensure validity with applicable standards of the resulting final data sets, indicators, questionnaire coding, metadata set, SAS programming, and output files. - Conduct geospatial and molecular HIV analysis and interpret results using R. - Work collaboratively with other analysts to develop novel code in support of analyses. - Support dissemination and reporting of data to internal and external partners. - Work alongside federal partners to support funded jurisdictions or funded CBOs. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, or related field. - 2 years of experience working with R or SAS. - Demonstrated ability to work with multiple data sources to monitor and assess data to ensure data quality, including accuracy and completeness. - Strong, demonstrated experience with SAS. - Familiarity with R coding. - Clear communication (written and verbal). - Must be able to obtain a NAC clearance. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with HIV surveillance or research data. - Prior experience with CDC, HHS, or other federal or state health agency. - Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or related field. - Experience creating and managing dashboards using Power BI. - 2 years of experience in generating SAS-based reports using a variety of methods (e.g., PROC REPORT, PROC TABULATE) and exporting those reports to other formats such as Microsoft Excel, PDF, and HTML. - Knowledge of HIV, molecular data, and public health surveillance systems. - Experience with large (>500,000 observations), document-based datasets. - Detail-oriented and able to create meticulous documentation of variables, datasets, and data attributes with a commitment to generating accurate data and products. - Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. - Proficient SAS or R coding experience (SAS MACROS, PROC SQL, FORMATS, etc.). - Manipulating and cleaning data using a variety of SAS functions, formats/informats, and procedures. - Generating SAS-based reports using a variety of methods (e.g., PROC REPORT, PROC TABULATE) and exporting those reports to other formats such as Microsoft Excel, PDF, and HTML. - Experience with behavioral or clinical surveillance data and/or primary or secondary research data. Compensation Basic Compensation: $50,000 - $70,000 yearly salary. The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
