Role Description This is a fully remote position, only applicable to candidates based in Spain. We're looking for a (Senior) Learning Designer who believes, genuinely, methodologically, that language is acquired, not studied. You'll work alongside the Head of Learning Design, Product, Engineering, and Growth to build the courses, activities, and learning resources that will take us to the next level. This is a creative, hands-on role. You'll be turning your teaching expertise into immersive Spanish lessons in the app that encapsulate complex linguistic rules into engaging, real-life scenarios, ensuring that language unfolds at a logical, effective pace, and it's presented following the principles of second language acquisition and Comprehensible Input. If you've spent time thinking deeply about how people acquire language, and you want to put that into practice at scale, this is the role for you. - Designing and creating Spanish courses grounded in immersion and Comprehensible Input, with zero translation - Capturing the natural progression of Spanish acquisition into short, self-contained units, linking them into larger courses with a coherent arc - Creating engaging lessons built around video and conversation: focusing on a word or a phrase, its natural response, in real-life context - Scouting, selecting, and directing native Spanish speakers to collaborate on lesson production - Designing activities that put Spanish into context, keeping always in mind effective acquisition, logical progression and reinforcement - Managing the production pipeline for courses, lessons, activities and other learning resources - Maintaining, improving, and keeping all existing content up to date - Appearing on camera as part of our lesson content and contributing to Palteca's brand identity Qualifications - A genuine passion for language acquisition, the science behind it, and how technology can serve it - At least 3 years of experience teaching Spanish to native English learners - Deep knowledge of Spanish grammar and language systems, and strong command of the CEFR framework - Solid experience designing and producing your own teaching materials and lesson plans - Personal experience learning a foreign language, so you know what it feels like from the learner's side - High comfort with video-based and visual formats of teaching - Comfort with digital tools in general, and curiosity about how technology shapes learning - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams (product, marketing and engineering) - English proficiency at C1 level or above - This role is open to native Spanish speakers only - A bachelor's degree in Spanish, languages, linguistics, or education Requirements - Experience working on an EdTech product, language learning app, or e-learning platform - Previous experience in a startup or fast-moving environment - A Master's in languages, linguistics, applied linguistics, or education - Working knowledge of editing and design tools (Premiere Pro, CapCut, Canva, or similar) - A content creation or teaching portfolio you can share - Deep knowledge of Spanish dialectal variation - Previous experience running and managing projects that involve defining and measuring deliverables, and working with internal and external stakeholders Benefits - Work on some of the hardest challenges in EdTech - Collaborate with a small, passionate team who care deeply about learning - Full-time contract - Competitive salary: €35,000–€45,000, depending on background and experience - Flexible working hours - Fully remote (in Spain only) - Join an ambitious startup where your impact will be felt immediately The Process - Application review: We'll read through every application with care and get back to you as soon as we can - Intro call: A conversation with our Head of Learning Design to hear about your experience, share more about the role, and see if there's a good fit on both sides - Take-home project: A 90-minute task that's representative of the work you'll be doing. This will give us a chance to understand how you think around solving problems - Meet the team: A chat with the wider Palteca team - Offer: If it's a good fit, we'll extend an offer
