Role Description The Division Councillor role involves supporting the Division Council to fulfill its responsibilities, which include: - Promotion and Recruitment: Actively support: - The promotion of Australian Red Cross’ activities in the Division; - The recruitment of members and volunteers in the Division; - Fundraising activities in the Division; - Communication and Feedback: Act as a communication channel: - Up to the Board and to management from members and volunteers in the Division; - Down to members and volunteers within the Division from management; - Down to members and volunteers from the Board (if required); - Governance of local activities: Establish and regulate Branches, Regions, Zones and other models of members and volunteers self-organisation within the Division; - Advisory: Consider issues of significance to the Division, including consulting with management (in line with the operating model) on undertaking work to support the Society’s strategy in the Division; The role requires Division Councillors to: - Attend Division Council meetings and associated preparation time (as determined by each Division Council). - Participate in Division Committees, which are established by the Division Council to support its role. - Participate in travel within the Division (as required). Qualifications - Be a member of Australian Red Cross within the Division. - Be at least 18 years of age. - Hold, or be able to obtain, an acceptable National Criminal History Check. - Hold, or be able to obtain, a Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check in the Division. - Not be employed by Australian Red Cross or Australian Red Cross Lifeblood (including within 12 months of appointment or election). Requirements - Undertake Australian Red Cross’ volunteer induction and other ongoing learning and development opportunities (as required by Australian Red Cross). - Always act in accordance with the Australian Red Cross’ Code of Conduct, Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, and Child Safe Code of Conduct. - Comply with the Australian Red Cross’ Workplace Health and Safety management system. Role Description This is a role in the credit control team that would suit an experienced credit controller who manages their own ledger and thrives in a busy collections environment. Experience of London Market, Lloyds of London, Reinsurance or Insurance would be highly advantageous. Location flexible. Full remote working if required. Key Responsibilities - High volume external/internal phone calls/emails chasing the firm's debt. - Regular contact with Partners, Clients and fee-earners about their debt. - Dealing with queries in-line with the ISO27001 requirements (internal & external). - Use 3E software to manage a ledger logging notes queries and diary entries. - Frequent liaison with other teams within the Finance department. - Monthly and ad-hoc meetings with management to discuss progress, escalations and problematic issues. - Occasional travel to other offices and some client visits. - Follow the firms' collection procedure. - Excel- pivot tables and V-lookups. - Seek collections which ensure cash collection targets are met. - Confident in own ability and able to look for a resolution prior to escalating. - Handle confidential information in line with the firms' data security protocols. - Collating missing data relevant to the payment of our bills – including cleansing existing data. - Liaising with accounts to provide and receive information to ensure data accuracy. - Take responsibility for monthly management information, provided both internally and externally. - Regular contact with the Sales Ledger Dept to ensure allocations are found promptly and accurately. Qualifications - Experience of London Market or Lloyds of London. - Insurance/reinsurance knowledge & collections experience - advantageous. - Previous Legal or Professional Services experience - advantageous but not essential. - Experience of 3E or similar legal accounting systems would be advantageous but not essential. - A tenacious personality able to handle difficult phone calls and meetings. - Lateral thinker with the ability to generate creative solutions to complex problems. - Excellent communication skills. - Ability to manage high work-loads. - A team player but able to use own initiative. - IT literate with ability to pick up new systems quickly. - Flexible with a positive 'can do' attitude. - Good level of numeracy, spelling and grammar. - Proven track record in reducing debtor days in a busy collections environment. - Attention to detail, able to write concise and detailed emails. • Own the integrity and audit-quality of the financials. Take ownership of the company's accounting integrity and ensure financial reporting is accurate, compliant, and defensible across all entities — in partnership with the accounting team that runs the day-to-day close and statements. • Own multi-entity consolidation and the controls around the close. Own clean, accurate multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation and the control framework that sits around the monthly close, so the numbers are dependable and audit-grade. • Drive audit readiness. Document internal controls, implement defensible revenue recognition, and bring the company to a point where it can confidently face an external audit. • Design and oversee the ERP migration. Lead the design of the QuickBooks-to-NetSuite (or equivalent) migration as the backbone of a more mature, audit-grade finance infrastructure, partnering with the accounting team and NetSuite consultants on execution. • Build the control environment. Establish the accounting policies, internal controls, and process documentation a scaling, internationally distributed business needs. • Own compliance, transfer pricing, and IP. Own multi-jurisdiction statutory compliance and international tax, and lead transfer pricing and the tracking of IP flows across entities for the group's structure — working closely with external advisors. • Own key external relationships. Own the relationships with the company's banks, CPA firm, auditors, and core finance and accounting vendors, including bank communications and reporting. • Lead a lean controllership team. Develop the dedicated support this function needs so controls, compliance, and consolidation scale with the business.
