Title: Developer Advocate Location San Francisco Employment Type Full time Location Type Hybrid Department Marketing Job Description: Role Overview We are seeking a Developer Advocate to build and lead our developer community engagement strategy. This role will serve as the bridge between FriendliAI and the broader AI developer ecosystem, creating meaningful connections through technical content, community engagement, events, and developer advocacy. You will play a key role in growing FriendliAI's presence within the GenAI, inference, and ML infrastructure communities by engaging directly with developers, AI engineers, and technical decision makers across both online and in-person channels. Key Responsibilities - Design and execute a comprehensive developer relations strategy aligned with FriendliAI's company goals, developer adoption initiatives, and community growth - Lead organization and execution of hackathons, technical meetups, workshops, webinars, and conference activations that engage AI engineers, ML practitioners, and infrastructure developers - Create and oversee high-quality technical content, including blog posts, inference benchmarks, architecture deep dives, integration tutorials, videos, demos, and developer documentation - Develop engaging social and community content that highlights FriendliAI's technology, product launches, open-source initiatives, and community activities - Build and maintain relationships with developer communities, open-source contributors, technical influencers, and strategic ecosystem partners - Gather developer feedback to inform product roadmap and improvements - Represent FriendliAI at industry conferences and developer events - Collaborate with marketing, product, and engineering teams to ensure cohesive messaging Requirements - 5+ years of experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, or technical community management - Demonstrated success organizing technical events such as hackathons and developer meetups - Strong technical writing skills with a portfolio of technical blog posts or documentation - Experience creating developer-focused content for social media platforms - Technical background with hands-on programming experience - Excellent presentation and communication skills - Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to various audiences - Experience/familiarity with GenAI technologies, LLM inference, GPU optimization, or AI developer tooling preferred - Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending 2-3 days per week onsite at FriendliAI's office in downtown San Francisco What We Offer - Competitive compensation & performance bonus - Equity participation in a high-growth AI startup - Opportunity to shape a brand in the AI infrastructure space - High visibility, ownership, and strategic influence in a small, nimble team - Work closely with technical and business leaders, not just executing but crafting direction - Opportunity to engage directly with some of the most cutting-edge AI developers, infrastructure engineers, and open-source communities About FriendliAI FriendliAI is building the next generation of AI tools and infrastructure to empower developers worldwide. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline or equivalent knowledge or experience. - Demonstrated European experience of operating multiple change projects in a complex organization. - Management of a European Works Council and/or multiple country level works councils (Group structure or other). - Managing Labour relations on a cross-jurisdictional basis to drive consistency, create a team to identify strategic priorities and deliver meaningful change and support for business operations. - Minimum significant experience of increasing HR responsibility (with emphasis on LR or ER in a Production, Maintenance and/or Services environment). - Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment and effectively interface at all organizational levels. - Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills and a customer-focused, “team first” mindset. - Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including strong PowerPoint and presentation skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Process and detail-oriented, including strong organizational and prioritization skills. - Ability to travel ~35%+ time.
