What We're Looking For: Beam is looking for an experienced controller with Insurance experience, to be an impactful part of the leadership team,  to oversee daily accounting & financial operations, ensure tax and regulatory compliance, provide timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP, establish and mature internal controls, coordinate external audits, manage treasury activities, and develop a best-in-class team. What You Will Do: Financial Reporting/Technical Accounting Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operations, focus on creating and maintaining an optimal monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close process. Oversee regulatory reporting,  including tax planning and coordination with compliance Provide technical accounting guidance on complex topics and transactionsProvide management with financial information vital to the decision making process Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements in compliance with GAAP Evaluate, document, and mature accounting and internal controls processes and procedures Oversee payroll and related operations Senior Leadership Manage relationships & workstreams with external auditors, consultants, and tax advisors Partner with cross-functional teams / leaders to evaluate and prepare for the impact strategic initiatives may have on accounting, financial operations, and the broader control environment Manage treasury operations and banking relationships Train and manage and retain skilled accounting staff Building Internal Controls Evaluate, document, and mature accounting and internal controls processes and procedures What Skills Will Help You Be Successful: Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations Embracing use of evolving AI technology to improve efficiency of current processes Proficiency with Netsuite (or similar accounting software) An advanced knowledge of Excel and familiarity with data query/management tools Confidence to consult with and influence senior leaders Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic (read: sometimes chaotic) environment Self-motivated with a demonstrated desire to learn new technologies and skills A demonstrated track record of completing large amounts of important work A strong attention to detail and well-organized Integrity and empathy Experience with Insurance accounting  is preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., finance, accounting, etc.) CPA is preferred 10+ years of relevant work experience
