Role Description Responsible for underwriting new and renewal Workers’ Compensation accounts for agents and producers assigned within their territory in compliance with company work comp underwriting, pricing and letters of authority. - Underwrite and retain new and renewal work comp business through solid risk analysis, pricing with adherence to state filings, corporate guidelines, and delegated authority. - Compile and document work comp underwriting decisions and make referrals to management when appropriate including rational and recommendations. - Maintain strong product line and industry expertise while gathering/sharing competitive information along with changes/trends in the local and national markets. - Collaborate with Sales Team to develop and maintain strong agency relationships with shared accountability in meeting territory goals. - Keep leadership, peers and sales team informed of all issues and meaningful activities. - Work with minimal supervision and meet commitments/deadlines. - Act with a customer-first mindset and a sense of urgency. - Collaborate and contribute in tactical and strategic business planning with Sales and distribution partners. - Provide thorough and pertinent information and guidance to Underwriting Services staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines and standards/SLA’s. - Provide professional, timely and courteous communication and service to internal and external customers to resolve issues. - Focus on exceptional customer service, collaboration with Sales team, and the development of strong agency relationships. - Quickly and effectively make underwriting decisions based on review and analysis of submission, account characteristics in accordance with company underwriting and pricing guidelines. - Demonstrates a high level of responsiveness and focus on supporting Policyholder and Agents objectives. - Establishes, develops, and maintains successful relationships with Policyholders and Agents. - Develops strong personal brand to build and maintain a long-term quality pipeline with Agents. Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of experience underwriting workers' compensation policies. - Commercial lines underwriting experience required. - Must have P&C agent license or committed to acquiring it within the first 90 days of employment. - Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals. - Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, pro-rata portion, frequency, loss ratio, net rate, and percentages. - Ability to apply problem solving skills involving variable and standard situations. - Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, telephone, and virtual meetings. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Excellent negotiation skills. - Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Product Suite. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Benefits - Salary Range: $60,000 - $84,000 and a comprehensive benefits package. Role Description We’re seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to work closely with the Underwriting Manager to ensure all loan files are complete, accurate, and meet company and regulatory guidelines. This remote position requires strong communication skills, sound independent judgment, and technical proficiency in mortgage underwriting. - Apply internal loan approval policies and investor guidelines during the underwriting process. - Accurately calculate Loan-to-Value (LTV) and Debt-to-Income (DTI) ratios. - Approve loans that meet company standards and document any conditions for closing. - Outline all closing conditions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and complete file documentation. - Conduct a holistic evaluation of each borrower’s profile, assessing beyond isolated figures to understand the full credit picture. - Collaborate with the Underwriting Manager to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality in underwriting decisions. - Exercise sound decision-making discretion in complex or borderline cases. - Ensure all required fields are filled and supporting documentation is included. - Communicate clear conditions for approval. - Work with processing and closing teams to ensure continued collaboration. Qualifications - Minimum of 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience with FHA, Conventional, and VA loan products. - DE (Direct Endorsement) Certification required. - VA LAPP/SAR Certification preferred. - Experience with USDA loans preferred. - Proven experience underwriting both manually underwritten and AUS (DU/LP) decisioned government loans. - Proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LP) required. - Experience using Encompass Loan Origination System preferred. - Strong understanding of investor and agency guidelines, credit risk, and compliance standards. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams, processors, and other operational partners. - Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - High level of accuracy, integrity, and sound judgment in underwriting decisions. - Must be capable of working independently in a remote and/or office environment.
