You will prepare accurate, commercially sound estimates across a range of civil and landscape infrastructure works, including: - Streetscape upgrades - Stormwater systems - Public domain projects - Integrated civil and landscape packages This is a senior role for an estimator who thinks like a constructor, project manager, and commercial risk manager — not just a take-off operator. Develop pricing across labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, and overheads - Account for productivity factors, urban construction inefficiencies, and staged works impacts - Construction Methodology - Develop project-specific methodologies based on site access, staging, machinery sizing, utility risks, and live traffic environments - Translate how the job will actually be built into accurate pricing - Commercial Risk Management - Prepare clear exclusions, assumptions, clarifications, and qualifications - Identify risks around rock excavation, contaminated fill, service relocations, traffic control, after-hours work, access restrictions, and latent conditions - Supplier & Subcontractor Engagement - Source and evaluate pricing, lead times, and delivery risk - Compare alternative methodologies and negotiate where required - Proposal Preparation & Handover - Prepare professional quotations, tender submissions, methodology statements, and commercial submissions - Conduct structured handovers to delivery teams covering assumptions, key risks, and unresolved items Working Arrangement - Reliable high-speed internet and a professional home office setup required - Daily collaboration hours overlapping with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT) - Regular video meetings with onshore project, design, and commercial teams - Independent contractor engagement (standard offshore contractor terms) - Engagement may commence as casual (per-hour / per-project) and convert to full-time equivalent, subject to workload queue and demonstrated capacity - First 90 days include productivity and workload calibration Qualifications - 3+ years of civil estimating experience - Experience pricing urban infrastructure, streetscape, or public domain projects, stormwater and roading infrastructure - Strong understanding of construction sequencing and methodology - Experience with construction-specific ERP or job costing systems - AI-assisted estimating or productivity tools Highly Desirable Experience - Streetscapes, landscape construction, or integrated civil/landscape packages - Stormwater management, WSUD, or urban tree infrastructure - Working with Australian, New Zealand, UK, or US-based civil or landscape contractors - Prior offshore or remote contracting experience Who You Are - Commercially minded — you balance competitiveness, profitability, and risk - Detail oriented — you know small ambiguities become large losses - Technically curious — you investigate constructability and engineering intent - Organised — you manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines - Self-managing — you deliver consistently without close supervision - A strong communicator — you write clearly, respond promptly, and raise issues early - Collaborative — you work effectively across design, delivery, suppliers, and clients in a remote setting Benefits - Competitive offshore contractor rate (commensurate with experience) - Fully remote, work-from-home arrangement -
