Role Description Drive the future of autonomous driving by solving complex, on-road challenges across the behavior stack. In this high-visibility role, you’ll have a broad view of Waymo's operations, from fleet management to release deployment, as you engineer scalable solutions for one of two critical domains: - Service Quality Reasoning: Protect Waymo's brand across pickups, drop-offs, and compliance around emergency and civic vehicles. - Intersection & Pedestrian Reasoning: Focus on mitigating safety risks in high-stakes environments. You will: - Deploy to rapidly triage and root cause an active in-field issue. - Directly launch features across the onboard and offboard stack to mitigate or solve in-field behavioral issues. - Grow the SWEs to be most effective in Intersections/Peds and Service Quality, with occasional involvement in other areas depending on urgency. - Be an active member of the Onboard RRG working group, satisfying group responsibilities with an option to be an eng on-call member. - Work with your TLM to improve production monitoring and response capabilities of the organization when not actively deployed.
