Role Description The Director, Cloud Engineering and Core Infrastructure (Enterprise Technology Platforms) has operational and strategic ownership of the Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Network Platforms. The role is a key leader in the “Dual-Pillar” Enterprise Technology Platform organization and is accountable for ensuring global operational stability, compute, and connectivity. This role leads a team responsible for the architecture, delivery, and proactive 24/7 monitoring of these technologies, ensuring uncompromising high availability and rapid incident resolution. This role acts as a people leader directing a globally dispersed workforce across the US, India (Bengaluru), and the Philippines (Manila), alongside managed service partners and contractor resources. This Director is strategically leading the usage of automation and agentic capabilities to reduce repetitive work and upskill the organization as part of the strategic talent expansion strategy. Location: Fully remote, open to candidates based nationwide (requires willingness to travel to our corporate HQ in Dublin, Ohio 1-3 times per year) Responsibilities - Global Operations: Responsible for 24/7 global ITOC/NOC operations, encompassing Data Center and COLO facilities, enterprise commodity servers, storage, virtualization environments, database, and network operations. - Incident Management: Lead Service Restoration Team (SRT) management and critical incident defense to ensure high availability and rapid incident resolution. - Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing, geographically dispersed team to shift the culture from reactive "ticket takers" to proactive strategic partners. - Strategic Execution: Execute critical initiatives including zero-trust, future-proofing the edge, optimizing vendor footprints, and automation / agentic capabilities. - Modernization: Contribute to the organization's modernization strategy and shift toward a DevOps/SRE model through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation strategies. - Health & Hygiene: Oversee the full technology lifecycle, including technology refresh, OS/Database currency, security remediation, patching, backups, and routine maintenance. Qualifications - 12+ years of experience in Hybrid Cloud environments, Data Center, Database technologies, and/or experience with Public/Private cloud infrastructure and legacy systems (IBM). - Prior experience leading a geographically dispersed team, managing 24/7 monitoring and support operations - a strong plus. - Continuous learner with demonstrated success driving automation capabilities and a desire to keep current on quickly evolving technologies. - Ability to manage vendor relationships, specifically regarding hardware/software exits, managed service agreements, and renewals. - Strong financial acumen to manage FinOps, vendor negotiations, and cost optimization efforts (e.g., COLO footprint reduction and software licensing). - Ability to manage numerous competing priorities across a broad range of technologies and disciplines. - Knowledge of regulatory compliance (SOX) and resiliency standards, a plus but not required. Your initial project assignment will be as a Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer - Data Sharing & B2B, responsible for: - Leading the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of secure external collaboration capabilities across the Microsoft cloud ecosystem. - Configuring and maintaining Azure B2B / Microsoft Entra External ID connections. - Implementing identity and data protection controls in Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Purview. - Designing secure access patterns for SharePoint-based extranets. - Defining enterprise security controls for encrypted email, Conditional Access, Power Platform solutions, and Power BI content. Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in Microsoft cloud engineering, with substantial hands-on responsibility for Microsoft 365, Azure, and enterprise security controls. - 4+ years of direct experience designing and administering Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD identity and access solutions. - Deep experience with Microsoft Entra External ID / B2B collaboration, cross-tenant access, external collaboration settings, guest access governance, and secure partner access models. - Strong experience implementing Microsoft Purview Information Protection capabilities, including sensitivity labels, encryption, and data protection policy integration. - Strong experience designing Microsoft Purview Message Encryption / OME solutions for secure external email exchange. - Proven experience designing and deploying Conditional Access policies in enterprise environments, including policy testing, exception handling, and access hardening. - Experience securing SharePoint Online sites and extranets for external access, including site permissions, sharing models, and information protection considerations. - Experience implementing governance and security controls for Power Platform, including environment strategy, roles, and data policies. - Experience securing Power BI platforms, including workspace governance, dataset security, sharing controls, and report access design. Requirements - Experience in highly regulated environments such as defense, government, healthcare, financial services, or other compliance-driven enterprises. - Experience supporting security assessments, accreditation packages, or control inheritance models. - Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, audit logging, insider risk considerations, and monitoring of collaboration and sharing events. - Experience with DevOps, infrastructure as code, or scripted administration using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, or automation tooling. - Microsoft certifications in areas such as Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 365 Security, Azure Security, or Purview. Compensation The targeted base salary range for this role is $121,000-$182,000 per year. This range is provided as a guideline, and the final offer will be based on several factors, including skillset, competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
