System Safety Associate Manager Location: Grand Prairie United States Job Description: Description: You will be the System Safety Associate Manager for the Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) Advanced Programs line of business. Our team guarantees that every product we deliver is safe for the warfighter, applying rigorous MIL STD 882 analyses, shaping safety culture, and developing the next generation of safety professionals. What You Will Be Doing As the System Safety Associate Manager you will act as the first line safety leader while still writing and reviewing technical safety work. You will partner with senior program leadership, systems engineers, software teams, suppliers, and customers to embed safety into every design, test, and operational step. Your responsibilities will include: - Developing and overseeing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, and hazardous material management plans that meet contractual and MIL STD 882 requirements. - Translating system safety requirements down to suppliers, verifying that designs implement the required controls, and tracking compliance through verification activities. - Reviewing specifications, design changes, and test plans for safety impacts and recommending mitigations in hardware, software, training, and procedures. - Preparing and delivering clear technical presentations for internal technical reviews, customer briefings, and independent safety board meetings. - Leading System Safety Working Groups, facilitating cross disciplinary discussions, and ensuring timely communication of program shifts to the safety team. - Supporting the definition and verification of safety related requirements, and participating in the development of test campaigns that demonstrate compliance. - Conducting accident/incident investigations, identifying root causes, and driving corrective action plans. - Managing a small team of junior SSEs: setting performance goals, conducting regular reviews, identifying skill gaps, and coordinating development opportunities with Safety Leadership. - Coordinating with senior program leadership to prioritize safety work, align execution strategy with contractual obligations, and report status through Lockheed Martin performance tools. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline - Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882 - Developing and evaluating system safety requirements - Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines - Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses - Strong written and oral communication skills - Ability to make formal presentations to large groups - Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers - Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance - Prior Leadership Role or Experience Desired Skills: - Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards - Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering - Familiarity with missile and launcher systems - Secret clearance with current 6-year background check - Model-based engineering knowledge - Experience with DOORS requirements application - Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction - Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy - Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
