We are seeking a highly motivated Factory Engineer - Equipment to join our rapidly growing, venture-backed company. This is a high-impact, challenging role dedicated to co-engineering and maintaining novel, high-throughput manufacturing lines that must also deliver highly custom products—a demanding technical balancing act. You will have massive influence. As an early team member, you will define and execute how we build out our factories, architect our proprietary automation, and establish systems to support aggressive growth targets. This is a hard job that requires excellence at the intersection of shop-floor operations and cutting-edge tech. Our complex robotic production lines feature a mix of traditional automation and processes that have never been created before—you will be the subject matter expert on these machines. You will be thrown into a high-growth, rapid-change environment where you will learn quickly, working alongside a team of smart, driven individuals. Your primary mission is guaranteeing the reliability and quality required for a 24/7 production schedule by defining best practices, developing robust mitigation plans, and setting up night/weekend shifts to operate near-autonomously. What You'll Do Lead vendors through the physical installation and mechanical commissioning of new equipment, ensuring all custom tooling and actuators meet design specs. Act as the detective for mechanical failures, using data to identify why parts are wearing out or breaking and implementing permanent design fixes. Build / modify maintenance playbooks to prevent unplanned downtime. Continuously redesign and harden machine components (custom tooling, brackets, linkages) to extend the time between mechanical failures. Develop and iterate on custom mechanical solutions and jigs to improve process stability and material handling as the machine scales. Own and continuously improve equipment uptime What We're Looking For Bachelor's Degree – Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering from a four-year university Minimum of four years of experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer, or similar role Minimum of six years of experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer, or similar role (Sr) Root cause expertise using systematic methodologies (5-Whys, Fishbone, 8D) to resolve complex equipment failures and prevent recurrence. Proven experience maintaining and optimizing high-speed automated systems, including PLC logic, robotics (6-axis/SCARA), and vision systems. Data-driven mindset using statistical process control and sensor data to predict failures and maximize uptime. Validation expertise in executing IQ/OQ/PQ and driving FAT/SAT to ensure equipment meets precision and safety specs. Maintenance strategy skills for developing preventative and predictive programs that don't bottleneck production.
