• Contribute to the stabilization and modernization of a legacy application • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across video ingestion pipelines, RTSP streams, encoder integrations, and backend services • Collaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to identify technical debt, architectural gaps, and reliability improvements • Design, implement, and optimize scalable backend APIs and services • Contribute to the migration of platform components from on-prem infrastructure to AWS-based environments • Participate in architecture and system design discussions related to scalability, reliability, and hybrid cloud/on-prem deployments • Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during backlog refinement, technical planning, and delivery execution • Document technical decisions, architecture assumptions, and operational workflows as needed • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices where appropriate

Role Description We are seeking a QRIS UI/UX Developer who will be responsible for the creation, implementation, maintenance, performance, production support and documentation of various departmental and enterprise-wide application systems. This includes but is not limited to the installation, modification, and testing of new and/or upgraded applications (packages or home grown), operating systems, file structures, hardware, communication devices, and productivity tools. Applies analysis techniques and procedures to gather and then translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications and designs. Using functional specifications and designs, produces all or part of the deliverables. Maintains databases and application system code. Specific Duties and Responsibilities - Analysis & Requirements Gathering - Define moderately complex business/clinical/education problems by meeting with clients to observe and understand current processes and the issues related to those processes. - Provide written documentation of findings to share with the client and other IT colleagues. - Gather moderately complex system requirements by meeting with clients and researching existing technology to understand the business requirements and possible solutions for new applications. - Design & Development - Develop detailed tasks and project plans by analyzing project scope and milestones for moderately complex projects. - Write functional/technical specifications by taking the provided moderately complex system requirements and putting them into functional and technical descriptions. - Develop/change data input, files/database structures, data transformation, algorithms, and data output by using appropriate computer language/tools. - Document code and associated processes by adhering to development methodologies. - Testing & Documentation - Create and document moderately complex test scenarios using the appropriate testing tools. - Test all changes by using the appropriate moderately complex test scenarios. - Author and maintain documentation by writing audience-appropriate materials. - Implementation & Maintenance - Implement changes by adhering to the change management policies and procedures. - Monitor changes and resolve moderately complex problems. - Provide support by triaging and resolving moderately complex issues. - Other duties as assigned. - Lead the creation of accessible, human-centered design solutions by applying usability best practices. - Translate business and user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups. - Partner closely with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration of front-end components. - Participate in change management processes to support timely and coordinated delivery of enhancements and new features. - Serve as a liaison between technical teams and program stakeholders. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree. - Three years of related experience with computer systems and applications. - Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent. Requirements - Three years of websites and web application workflows development. - Two years of software UI/UX front end development. - Knowledge of the QRIS (Quality Rating and Improvement System). - Software development experience related to MSDE’s implementation of QRIS. - Experience with Accessibility such as WCAG 2.0 or greater. - Experience in web application design, user interface design, or user experience (UX) design. - Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role. - Knowledge of wireframe tools. - Experience in JavaScript unit tests, AngularJS/Angular 2, Vue.js/Nuxt.js, jQuery, Bootstrap, TailWind, and REST. - Experience working in an agile software development environment. - Experience developing and/or deploying in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
