Role Description Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as a Pre-Award Coordinator in the Office of the Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research. The EMS Research Office provides proposal preparation support and grant administration services for a $95 million per year college research enterprise. The successful candidates will join a highly respected team of pre-award and post-award professionals in a high-volume, fast-paced, innovative, and service-first environment. Responsibilities - Prepare proposal budgets and non-technical components of grant applications. - Review solicitation requirements and provide guidance to faculty to ensure compliant submissions. - Generate grant application packages on a variety of government websites (i.e. Research.gov, Grants.gov). - Maintain cognizance of University research administration policies and guidelines, and provide guidance to faculty and staff on appropriate procedures and required approvals. - Coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Research Accounting, Office of Research Protections, and other University contacts as needed throughout the proposal process. This position will be filled within the Proposal and Award Generalist career field at the Senior Professional level. At the Senior Professional level, the Pre-Award Coordinator is expected to demonstrate mastery of all baseline proposal submission responsibilities and experience with numerous complex proposal submissions and unique sponsor requirements. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree. - 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills. - Attention to detail. - Ability to multi-task in a high-volume deadline-driven environment. - Preference will be given to those with proposal submission experience with Department of Energy (DOE), NASA and/or Department of Defense (DoD) sponsors. Requirements - None required certifications.
