Job Description

Product Designer, Mid Level

Edelman

Role Description Edelman AI is seeking a Product Designer, Mid Level, to help shape clear, consistent experiences across our internal platform that brings together insights, content creation, and proprietary AI tools into one shared environment for teams. This is an end-to-end product design role, not a UI-only role. You will independently own design workstreams from Discovery through Evaluation, including: - Lightweight research - Problem framing - Ideation - End-to-end flows - High-fidelity UI - Design system execution - Delivery partnership - UX QA You will partner closely with Product Owners, engineers, and stakeholders to translate complex capabilities into human-centered experiences that are usable, accessible, and scalable across teams. You will work within an established Design System and an AI-assisted development workflow, executing with precision while flagging gaps and contributing documentation that keeps the system healthy. What success looks like - You can take an ambiguous problem and drive it from framing to shipped solution, proactively aligning with the UX Lead at key decision moments. - You reduce rework by surfacing risks early and designing complete end-to-end flows, including edge cases and states, not just happy paths. - You keep consistency across squads by defaulting to existing patterns and contributing improvements. - You collaborate smoothly with engineers and Product Owners, keeping decisions crisp and documented. - You follow through after release, validating outcomes and feeding learnings back into future work. Responsibilities - Insight-Led Product Development - Drive problem framing with Product Owners, including primary users, jobs to be done, constraints, assumptions, and risks. - Plan and run lightweight research activities when needed, such as quick interviews, concept checks, and usability tests. - Synthesize findings into clear recommendations that influence solution direction. - Define success signals during Discovery and support evaluation after release by comparing outcomes to those signals. - Rapid Concepting and Holistic Experience Design - Generate multiple solution directions quickly and articulate tradeoffs in plain language. - Prototype at the right fidelity, starting with quick and lightweight concepts, to align stakeholders and reduce risk before build. - Deliver end-to-end flows that include key states and edge cases. - Ensure usability best practices are applied consistently across the experience. - Design System-Led Craft - Design polished high-fidelity UI aligned with brand guidelines and our Design System. - Default to existing patterns and reuse components consistently across squads. - When a clear gap exists, document it with variants, states, and usage guidance and raise it with the UX Lead for review before extending the system. - Ensure responsive behavior and accessibility basics are included from the start. - Embedded Engineering Partnership - Collaborate early with engineers on feasibility, scope, and technical constraints before designs are considered final. - Specify behaviors precisely, including interactions, content requirements, states, and responsive rules. - Keep handoff current during build and communicate changes clearly to the rest of the squad. - Support implementation by answering questions quickly and helping unblock delivery. - Quality Ownership from Design to Release - Verify the built experience across key screens, browsers, and breakpoints. - Write clean bug reports with clear repro steps and expected versus actual behavior, including screenshots. - Capture learnings post-release and feed improvements back into patterns and future work. Requirements - 3 to 5 years of Product Design experience, including owning work from Discovery through Delivery. - Portfolio demonstrating problem framing, research-informed decisions, multiple options explored, and at least one end-to-end shipped workflow. - Strong knowledge of Design Systems, including applying and evolving component libraries, documenting usage guidelines, and collaborating on governance so patterns stay consistent across squads. - Strong proficiency in Figma, including component creation, variants, auto layout, and clean file structure. - Comfort working alongside AI-assisted design and development workflows, including tools like Claude, and an understanding of how design decisions are consumed by AI agents in the build process. - Proven ability to operate with ambiguity, take ownership, and deliver while proactively aligning with the UX Lead at key milestones. - Familiarity with Mixpanel or similar analytics tools, and ability to combine quantitative signals with qualitative research insights to guide decisions. - Strong collaboration and communication skills with Product and Engineering. - High attention to detail and strong follow-through to ensure quality in the shipped experience. Nice to have - Understanding of communications and PR agency workflows, and how firms like Edelman operate across clients, teams, and delivery models.
