Role Description We are looking for a Microservice Developer with 3+ years experience to work on an Agile DevSecOps team that supports a portfolio at USCIS. This position is full-time remote / telework. - Develop and maintain Java-based microservices that meet requirements for code quality and performance. - Ability to perform moderately challenging tasks with a degree of autonomy. - Maintain expected velocity and deliver software on schedule. - Participate in daily, weekly, monthly agile ceremonies including standups, retrospectives, demos, etc. - Act as an integral member of an agile team mentoring more junior resources while continuing to deliver software. Qualifications - Ability to receive DHS EOD required / Current DHS EOD preferred. - U.S. Citizenship required. - Must possess strong verbal and written communication experience. - Ability to work in a high-speed delivery focused environment. - Ability to work in a fully remote environment and maintain delivery tempo. - Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field is preferred. - 3+ years of experience in the tools, techniques, and methodologies below. - Experience in Java Development. - Understanding of Microservice patterns and concepts. - Ability to troubleshoot issues. - Ability to research and learn new methodologies and technologies and bring knowledge to the team. - Understanding of DevSecOps tools, principles, and execution. - Experience with Agile and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, SonarQube, GitHub, JUnit, Insomnia, etc. - Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Kafka, and developing in/for a containerized AWS environment. • Onboarding & environment — set up local dev environment, run the service and tests, get familiar with the main modules and core stores (Postgres, Mongo, Redis, RabbitMQ) • Small fixes end-to-end — deliver 2–3 minor bugfixes or improvements through the full cycle: branch, tests, code review, green CI, merge • One mid-sized feature — own a self-contained feature or refactor across handler + service + storage layers, with a short design note agreed before implementation • Quality improvement — pick one concrete pain point (slow query, flaky test, noisy logs, fragile consumer, outdated dependency) and deliver a measurable improvement

• Own and support critical data/platform services. • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Airflow DAGs written in Python • Investigate issues related to data, DAGs, DAFFs, Elasticsearch indexes, Superset, and web applications • Perform root cause analysis and propose practical solutions • Implement new features and improvements in existing Python/Flask-based services • Work with Elasticsearch indexing, optimization, and troubleshooting • Work with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases • Support and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines • Propose improvements across application, data, infrastructure, and operational layers • Communicate actively with the internal team and the client
