Preconstruction Architect – Designer
Turner & Townsend
• Create site layouts, feasibility studies, and early-stage design concepts for new and existing EV operations facilities. • Produce detailed drawings and documentation for facility components including service areas, support spaces, and site infrastructure. • Design and coordinate EV charging layouts, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and electrical requirements. • Work closely with internal teams (engineering, operations, real estate, facilities) and external partners to align design with operational needs. • Manage permitting processes and ensure designs meet applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards. • Contribute to the creation of design standards and playbooks to ensure consistency across projects and streamline future development. • Prepare construction documentation and review shop drawings to ensure design intent is maintained throughout execution. • Support long-term infrastructure planning and real estate strategy through design expertise and technical guidance. • Participate in site selection and evaluation, providing architectural input during due diligence and planning phases. • Conduct design reviews and site visits to ensure construction aligns with approved plans and standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field
- Licensed Architect with 10+ years of experience in architectural design and pre-construction, ideally in transportation, industrial, or technical facilities
- Experience designing EV charging infrastructure and coordinating with electrical systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other architectural design tools
- Strong understanding of building codes (ADA, NEC) and permitting processes
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across diverse teams
- Creative problem-solving and strategic thinking
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and adapt to shifting priorities
- Experience developing design standards or playbooks for repeatable infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with sustainability principles and energy-efficient design strategies.
