Financial Controller

Effective Altruism Israel

• Own the month-end and year-end close process across CEA’s US and UK entities • Oversee and manage external bookkeeping teams • Maintain and improve the chart of accounts and general ledger structure in NetSuite • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly • Oversee the accounts payable function • Project manage and own the annual audit process • Ensure compliance with regulatory filing requirements across jurisdictions • Serve as the primary NetSuite administrator for the accounting function • Directly manage finance associates responsible for payments processing

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience in an accounting or financial controller role, ideally within a US 501(c)(3), UK charity, or complex multi-entity organization
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and/or UK accounting standards
  • Demonstrated compliance expertise in at least one jurisdiction (US or UK) in the non-profit context
  • Experience managing or supervising staff
  • Experience designing or overseeing accounts payable controls
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidation
  • Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate financial information to non-finance stakeholders
