Digital Media Specialist - Media Planning, Media Buying, Meta Chicago, IL Freelance Remote $35 - $45 /hr Our digital agency client is seeking a highly experienced Digital Media Specialist to support day to day paid media execution across client accounts. This is a hands-on, execution focused role for a seasoned agency professional who can independently run accounts, optimize performance, and clearly articulate results. The position is part-time, approximately 20 hours per week with some flexibility depending on workload, and is fully remote, though candidates local to Chicago are preferred. This role will work closely with the agency owner, who oversees media strategy at a high level, and the Digital Media Supervisor, who owns funnel tracking and Looker dashboards. This position is fully responsible for campaign execution, optimization, and written performance analysis. Key Details - Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, may flex up or down - Location: Remote, preference for Chicago based candidates - Duration: Ongoing Scope and Scale - Primary account spend of approximately 1.3M annually - Typical book of business includes around 10 clients - Total managed media spend ranges from 2 to 3M annually - Accounts are Meta first, with expansion into other channels as needed Responsibilities Media Planning - Develop channel appropriate media plans tied to client business objectives - Translate strategy into executable plans including budgets, audiences, and flighting - Adjust plans based on performance trends, signal loss, and platform changes Media Buying and Execution - Hands-on campaign execution and optimization across Meta (primary), Google Search and YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok - Daily management of pacing, optimization, testing, and troubleshooting - Confidently take over existing accounts and run them independently with minimal oversight Reporting and Analysis - Partner with the Digital Media Supervisor on data inputs, funnel tracking, and dashboards - Own written performance summaries and insights, including what happened, why it happened, what was adjusted, and recommended next steps - Deliver accurate, clear, and detail oriented reporting with sound logic and explanations Qualifications - Agency experience is required - Proven experience managing paid media budgets of at least 1M annually - Deep, hands-on expertise with Meta Ads Manager - Comfortable operating independently at a senior, non supervisory level - Strong ability to clearly explain execution decisions and performance outcomes - Highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented - Strategic thinker who still enjoys hands-on execution - Comfortable being accountable for results and performance analysis In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data.
