Job Description

Damage Prevention Technician I

Zayo Group

• Analyzing blueprints to determine where construction projects will take place • Identifying and mapping location and depth of utilities for fiber optic cable and underground utilities • Documenting interactions, site information, and utilities in organizational software • Communicates with clients, engineers, and management • Using various techniques (electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and/or radar) to measure utilities • Proactively identify potential problem areas to ensure the integrity of the network and company • Pinpointing the coordinates of lines using GPS or surveying equipment • Responsible for the asset management processes and replenishment of on-site/truck materials • Coordinating shipping and receiving of company and customer materials • Maintaining tools, test sets, and all network equipment • Maintaining network/site security, cleanliness, and following all policies related to company property • Inspecting cabinets, buried cables, construction sites, and other outdoor facilities in various environments, weather conditions, temperatures, exposed to local flora and fauna • Operating in both individual and team environments, both within this team and interacting with other teams, working together to achieve common goals • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Up to 1 year of relevant experience in field construction tasks
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic understanding of underground installations is preferred
  • Previous experience with utility locating and fiber optic cable builds, preferred
  • Proficiency in using computers, cell phones, test equipment, Microsoft Windows operating system, and Office applications required
  • Must have a cell phone
  • Operate on-call 24/7/365 on a rotating schedule, including standby, call out, dispatch, and overtime as required by the business, including some travel as needed
  • Must follow all personal safety policies and procedures
  • Must be able to maintain eligibility to operate a company issued vehicle per our policy (no more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years); this includes possession of a state-issued driver license for the state in which you live.
  • Regularly lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds and move them clear of the job site.

Role Description Symbotic is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Senior Advanced Planner role within our Supply Chain organization. This individual will bring a strong analytical mindset and a passion for ensuring material availability for upcoming project installations. We are looking for a professional with proven experience in cross-functional collaboration and creative problem solving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The ability to develop trusting relationships with project teams and manage complex installation planning processes is essential. The Production Control team manages project-based planning and material execution for complex, customer-specific automation systems. This group oversees material coordination, supply execution, and logistics alignment to ensure materials and equipment are available when and where needed to support installation and commissioning. What you’ll do - Own the end-to-end material availability for designated Micro Fulfillment project categories, ensuring all components are ready for upcoming project installs. - Balance and maintain optimal inventory levels by managing safety stock and min/max parameters to ensure material readiness for site installations. - Monitor material delivery schedules against project timelines, proactively identifying and communicating risks to project teams regarding potential shortages that could impact installation dates. - Partner with our Supplier Performance teams to proactively resolve material gap issues; ensuring installation schedules are met and project escalations are targeted and minimal. - Support deep-dive analysis on inventory performance and recommend strategic adjustments to planning parameters like safety stock and reorder points to support fluctuating project demands. - Serve as the primary supply chain contact for Project Management and Operations teams regarding material lead times and availability status. - Work with Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure efficient inbound material scheduling and accurate inventory transactions to support project planning accuracy. - Ensure that relevant engineering changes flow through appropriately to the material staged for specific project installs to ensure seamless delivery.
