Title: Diagnostic Imaging Scheduler Location: US Job Description: Travel Required: Up to 10% Clearance Required: None What You Will Do: The Diagnostic Imaging Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all diagnostic imaging appointments—including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and X-ray—for patients served at UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital and affiliated outpatient locations. This role ensures all imaging orders are accurately scheduled, pre-authorization requirements are met, and patients receive clear instructions to prepare for their procedures. The scheduler serves as a vital liaison between patients, referring providers, clinical staff, and radiology departments to ensure a seamless, patient-centered experience. Key Responsibilities: - Schedule diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and patient needs. - Verify order accuracy, exam type, and required clinical indications prior to scheduling. - Confirm insurance eligibility, benefits, and pre-certification or authorization requirements before appointments. - Communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, and location directions to patients in a clear and compassionate manner. - Manage scheduling requests received via phone, fax, EMR, or electronic order system. - Coordinate appointment times to optimize modality utilization and reduce patient wait times. - Work collaboratively with radiology technologists, nurses, and patient access representatives to resolve scheduling conflicts or order discrepancies. - Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy and confidentiality standards. - Document all scheduling activity accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and scheduling system. - Adhere to service level expectations for call answer time, abandonment rate, and scheduling accuracy. What You Will Need: - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare scheduling, registration, or radiology environment required. What Would Be Nice to Have: - Prior experience scheduling diagnostic imaging procedures or working in a radiology department. - Associate degree or medical office coursework. - Epic experience. - Hybrid or onsite work based on departmental needs. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. - Excellent customer service and communication abilities. - Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic imaging modalities, and insurance authorization processes. - Proficiency with electronic scheduling systems and EHR (Epic experience preferred). - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy. #IndeedSponsored #LI-DNI The annual salary range for this position is $38,000.00-$64,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
