Role Description The NERC Compliance Specialist supports utility and energy clients in meeting and maintaining compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. This role works closely with Generator Owners/Operators, Transmission Owners/Operators, and other regulated entities to develop compliance programs, manage audit readiness, maintain regulatory documentation, and support technical compliance activities across standards such as FAC, PRC, CIP, MOD, TOP, and VAR. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, regulatory knowledge, and experience coordinating with engineering and operations teams in the power industry. - Support clients in developing, implementing, and maintaining NERC compliance programs across applicable Reliability Standards, including FAC, PRC, CIP, MOD, TOP, and VAR. - Monitor regulatory updates from NERC, Regional Entities, and FERC, and communicate impacts to clients. - Assist in developing and updating compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, and evidence management practices. - Prepare, organize, and maintain compliance evidence and supporting documentation. - Support audits, spot checks, self-certifications, and data requests. - Conduct internal compliance reviews, gap assessments, and readiness evaluations. - Support FAC-008 Facility Ratings documentation and validation efforts. - Maintain PRC protection system maintenance and testing evidence. - Support MOD and VAR data submissions and event reporting activities. - Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Asset Management teams to ensure compliance tasks are completed accurately and on schedule. - Assist in developing and delivering NERC compliance training for client personnel. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. - 2–5+ years of experience in NERC compliance, utility operations, power generation, or regulatory consulting. - Experience supporting Generator Owner/Generator Operator (GO/GOP) compliance programs is preferred. - Experience with renewable energy assets, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), is preferred. - Working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and Regional Entity processes. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Familiarity with FAC-008, PRC-005, CIP standards, and evidence management systems. - Ability to manage multiple compliance activities and deadlines in a consulting environment. - Strong analytical and documentation skills.
