Staff Network Engineer

Motorola Solutions

• Design and implement network solutions supporting NGCS infrastructure, including ESInet connectivity between PSAPs, carriers, and data centers • Configure and support Layer 2/Layer 3 networking including BGP, OSPF, VRRP, QoS, ACLs, NAT, and DNS • Support integration with carrier networks and third-party providers (OSP interconnects, backhaul, transport) • Deploy and maintain network components including switching, routing, firewalls (e.g., FortiGate), load balancing, and DNS services • Participate in network architecture design, capacity planning, and performance optimization • Develop and execute Methods of Procedure (MoPs) for network upgrades, expansions, and maintenance activities • Support change management processes, including participation in internal and customer CAB reviews • Troubleshoot complex network issues across distributed environments and drive resolution to completion • Collaborate with Product, Deployment, and Operations teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in a Network Engineer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network design principles
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability environments
  • Hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, and network security technologies
  • Experience with virtualized network environments (e.g., VMware, NSX, or similar) preferred
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant or service provider environments preferred
  • Certifications (CCNA/CCNP or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability in a team environment
  • Experience documenting and executing operational procedures
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts
  • Ability to mentor and support team development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, and implementing robust LAN/WAN solutions that allow enterprise applications to utilize the MCEN De-Militarized Zone (DMZ).
