Job Description

Forward Deployed Engineer – AI and Automation

ONE

• Ship production-grade AI agents and automation workflows that solve high-stakes business problems in cross-functional orgs like Finance, Legal, and People. • Collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with Subject Matter Experts to translate manual business processes into performant, reliable technical specifications and agentic architectures. • Rapidly prototype and deploy end-to-end solutions using Python and modern AI frameworks (LLM APIs, RAG patterns, and agentic SDKs), with clear ownership from discovery through production. • Build and maintain robust integrations between OnePay’s core SaaS stack (Salesforce, Workday, etc.) and custom AI services, ensuring data integrity and security. • Empower and educate internal partners, acting as a technical force multiplier to help non-technical teams adopt AI-first mindsets and build their own automated agents. • Instrument monitoring and guardrails to ensure all AI-driven workflows are secure, compliant, and resilient at scale — including appropriate handling of PII, access control design, audit logging, and coordination with Legal and Security review processes. • Design and run evaluation frameworks to validate agent accuracy, reliability, and regression behavior before and after production deployments. • Lead structured discovery sessions with business stakeholders to surface requirements, assess feasibility, and produce clear technical scopes before a single line of code is written. • Create reusable playbooks, architecture decision records, and handoff documentation so that the teams you work with can maintain and extend what you build.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping production code that users depend on every day.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern AI tooling, including deep experience with LLM APIs, agent frameworks (LangGraph, Claude SDK), and developer productivity tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation techniques — including prompt regression testing, human-in-the-loop review, and automated eval pipelines.
  • Strong Python proficiency (or TypeScript/Go equivalent) with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code within a shared codebase.
  • A "Product Mindset"—you don't just close tickets; you proactively find friction points, design the solution, and can run working sessions and present trade-offs credibly to audiences ranging from individual contributors to senior leadership.
  • Systems integration experience, including a working knowledge of REST APIs, data pipelines (SQL), and cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS).
  • Drive and proactivity—everyone here is a builder and executor; you are comfortable "walking across org lines" to get things done.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, stock options, and health benefits from Day 1
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Remote-friendly (US), flexible time off (FTO), and opportunities for growth
  • A high-growth, mission-driven, inclusive culture where your work has real impact
