Job Description

Engineering Manager, Product

Bizee

About Bizee Bizee (formerly Incfile) has helped over 1 million entrepreneurs start and run their businesses. We are transforming from a transaction-focused formation business to an AI-powered operating system for entrepreneurs. We champion the everyday entrepreneur. We believe in self-determination, grit, and earned success. No fluff, no jargon, no pretense. We work hard, ship fast, and let our products speak for themselves. What Makes Working Here Different - Own the Customer Journey: Your squads touch every stage of the lifecycle, from first visit to ongoing compliance. - AI-Native Development: We are rolling out Claude Code across engineering. You will personally use AI tools daily to code, code review and help your teams ship faster. - Squad Model with Real Ownership: Our squads own outcomes, not outputs. You build autonomous teams that move fast. - Your success in delivering velocity and quality directly drives company valuation. The Role As the Engineering Manager, Product, you will lead the teams that build Bizee's customer-facing experiences. You will manage 3-5 Technical Leads across ~20 engineers This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be in the code reviews, in the architecture discussions, and in the sprint retros. If your approach is to "set direction and delegate," this is not the right fit. You should be comfortable debugging production issues alongside your team, reviewing PRs weekly, and personally demonstrating how to use Claude Code effectively. This is a hands-on, AI-powered leadership role. You have experience building secure, maintainable, production-quality applications using Claude Code. You use AI tools daily to review PRs, debug issues, and accelerate development. We will ask you to demonstrate this with real examples from your work. Reports to CTO. What You'll Deliver In your first year: - Squad Delivery: 85%+ sprint commitment rate across all 4 squads; weekly releases (up from bi-weekly). - Quality: 50% reduction in P1/P2 production incidents from product code. - AI Adoption: 80%+ of product engineers actively using Claude Code in their daily workflows. - Team Development: All 4 Tech Leads with documented growth plans; 2+ ready for next level. - Team Health: eNPS 40+ across product engineering. - Hiring: Backfill Partner Enablement Tech Lead - hire 3-5 engineers as needed.

Job Requirements

  • What We're Looking For
  • Technology Management: You have managed tech leads or engineering managers. You develop leaders, not just ICs.
  • Hands-On Orientation: You still review code, understand architecture, and can evaluate technical tradeoffs. You lead by example.
  • AI Tool Adoption: You personally use AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot). You can demonstrate productivity gains, not just talk theory.
  • Delivery Focus: Track record of shipping on time without sacrificing quality. You know when to cut scope and when to hold the line.
  • Full-Stack Fluency: You can evaluate decisions across frontend and backend. You do not code daily, but you understand the tradeoffs.
  • Squad Experience: You have run cross-functional squads with Product and Design. You balance autonomy with alignment.
  • What Will Make You Stand Out
  • You can show us your GitHub activity, recent code reviews, or technical documents from the last 6 months.
  • You can demonstrate specific productivity gains from AI tools with real examples.
  • Experience at a growth-stage company ($50M-$500M) with similar transformation challenges.
  • Background in e-commerce, legal tech, fintech, or compliance-heavy industries.
  • Experience with CMS platforms (Statamic, Contentful), HubSpot, or Zendesk.
  • This Role Is NOT For You If...
  • You prefer to "set strategy and delegate" without staying close to technical details.
  • You have not personally used AI coding tools and are skeptical about their value.
  • You believe managers should not review code or attend sprint ceremonies.
  • You are uncomfortable being held accountable for delivery metrics, not just team health.
  • What We Don't Care About
  • Prestigious company names on your resume.
  • Formal MBA or CS degrees (show us your results).
  • Years of experience (show us your impact and velocity).
  • Polished "corporate" personas (we want authentic, high-output leaders).
  • Interview Note: We will ask you to show us recent code reviews, walk through how you use AI tools, discuss a code you have written, and detail a production incident you helped debug. Come prepared with specific examples.
