Senior Full Stack Engineer Remote (U.S.) | Full-time | $130,000–$150,000 About Clever Benefits Clever Benefits is building the tech that makes healthcare feel less like a headache. We package telemedicine services into custom-branded mobile apps and build the CRMs that power day-to-day operations for our clients. Our tools support meaningful experiences for the people who rely on them, and we're scaling quickly to meet demand. We operate in a fast-paced, high-context environment with a lean engineering team that moves quickly and takes full ownership of its work. We care deeply about clarity, real-world impact, and building systems that scale. You won't find layers of red tape here, just a team of smart, mission-driven people solving hard problems together. The Role We're hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help build and scale the high-impact products our clients rely on. This is a true full stack role offering opportunities to work across web, mobile, internal tooling, and infrastructure. You'll take ownership of projects end-to-end, contribute to technical decisions, and collaborate across the team to deliver robust, scalable solutions. In a lean team environment, you'll need to be comfortable identifying the right stakeholders, asking clarifying questions, and simplifying complex problems before diving into solutions. You'll work directly with leadership and clients to understand requirements, push back when needed, and make pragmatic technical decisions that balance speed with quality. As we phase out legacy systems, consolidate codebases, and move toward a service-based architecture, you'll help shape the future of our platform. Key Responsibilities - Take full ownership of features from scoping through delivery, including identifying stakeholders and gathering requirements - Design, build, and deliver scalable, maintainable features across web, mobile, internal tooling, and infrastructure - Ask the right questions early to reduce complexity and avoid over-engineering - Contribute to system design discussions and help uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, and reliability - Participate in code reviews and collaborate with teammates to solve technical challenges - Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and clients to deliver business outcomes - Take initiative to identify areas for improvement in codebases, processes, or tooling and help implement solutions
Job Requirements

- Experience with both MongoDB and PostgreSQL, including ORMs like Prisma
- Strong experience with AWS infrastructure, particularly CDK, Fargate, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and CloudFormation
- Comfortable working without heavy product management support. You know how to scope work, identify edge cases, and challenge requirements when something doesn't make sense
- Passionate about system design, code quality, type-safety, and building for long-term maintainability
- Clear communicator who values collaboration and contributes to a positive, inclusive team culture
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
- Able to balance moving quickly with building things the right way
- Bonus points for:
- Experience building or supporting mobile applications with React Native
- Experience working in regulated domains such as healthcare
- Based in or open to relocating to the Phoenix area (future hybrid office option, timeline TBD)
