Franvest Capital Partners

The Next Gen Institute (NGI) is a Canadian nonprofit initiative focused on equipping young Canadians with the knowledge they need to understand personal finance, government finance, and civic responsibility. NGI develops modular, curriculum-aligned educational resources that teachers can integrate directly into existing courses such as CALM, Social Studies, Civics, and Economics. Each module includes a professionally produced 5-minute educational video, a student workbook, a teacher’s guide, curriculum mapping aligned to provincial standards, and assessment materials. All resources are provided free of charge to educators across Canada, beginning with a 2026 pilot launch in Alberta.

Role Description NGI is seeking a practicing or recently practicing high school Social Studies teacher to join our content team in a part-time capacity. You understand how Alberta classrooms work, what teachers need to feel confident delivering new material, and what students respond to. That expertise is exactly what NGI needs to build resources that get used rather than filed away. This role sits at the intersection of curriculum design and content creation. You will help shape the educational quality of NGI's modules, ensuring everything we produce is accurate, classroom-ready, and genuinely useful to teachers across Canada. You will work with our instructional development team to provide domain knowledge and expertise in teaching these classes. As a contributor to NGI's content library, you will also have full access to use any completed NGI modules in your own classroom at no cost. Key Responsibilities - Curriculum Development and Alignment - Review and contribute to NGI module content to ensure alignment with Alberta and broader Canadian provincial curriculum standards for Social Studies, Civics, CALM, and Economics. - Develop and refine student workbooks, teacher guides, and assessment materials that reflect how real classrooms operate. - Map each module to specific learning outcomes and document this clearly for teacher use. - Provide feedback on scripts and video concepts from a curriculum and pedagogy standpoint. - Help ensure content is accurate, age-appropriate, non-partisan, and inclusive. - Content Creation and Writing - Write or review discussion questions, reflection prompts, and formative assessment items for each module. - Contribute to the development of slide decks and classroom presentation materials that teachers can pick up and use with minimal preparation. - Use AI tools to support and accelerate research, drafting, and editing workflows. - Teacher Experience and Usability - Apply your classroom experience to pressure-test materials before they go out, flagging anything that would not work in a real lesson. - Recommend formats, structures, and language that reduce friction for busy teachers integrating new content. - Contribute to the development of implementation guides that help teachers understand how to fit NGI modules into their existing units. - Provide input on how NGI content can be differentiated for varied student needs and grade levels. - Review and Quality Assurance - Act as an educational reviewer for modules prior to publication. - Identify factual inaccuracies, curriculum gaps, or content that may require revision. - Support the submission and approval process with provincial education authorities where required. - Provide ongoing feedback to the broader content team as NGI's module library grows. Qualifications - A current or recently practicing high school teacher with experience in Social Studies, Civics, CALM, Economics, or a related subject. - Someone who has seen firsthand what good curriculum resources look like and what gets left on the shelf. - Someone comfortable working independently on a flexible schedule alongside a small, mission-driven team. - A person who genuinely believes young Canadians deserve better financial and civic education. Assets (Nice to Have, Not Required) - Experience with curriculum writing, resource development, or instructional design beyond classroom preparation. - Familiarity with Alberta Education curriculum frameworks and approval processes. - Experience teaching or developing content across multiple provinces. - Comfort using tools like Canva, Google Slides, or Microsoft PowerPoint for educational materials. - Interest in or experience with digital content, video production, or educational technology. Benefits - Flexible schedule. - Opportunity for advancement. Compensation and Structure - Part Time, Flexible Hours. - Remote within Alberta.
