Job Description

Principal Field Clinical Engineer

Medtronic

• Provides technical assistance to clinical study sites by serving as the technical resource between engineering and the medical community. • Present for all ablation procedures at study sites for investigational device studies to guide the physician on the requirements for the protocol and ensure high quality data is being collected. • Accountable for identifying investigators, presenting protocols for a study, assisting investigators in product application, and submitting status reports on all programs. • Provides all aspects of assistance for Clinical Research studies by identifying investigators, nominating and qualifying sites, performing activation duties, providing training, encouraging enrollment, ensuring quality data acquisition and performing study closure activities. • Accountable for gaining and maintaining knowledge of clinical sites to best understand and assess physicians’ interests and capabilities. • Develops expertise in clinical and market released products and evidence, and functions as a local technical/clinical resource for Medtronic and the customer. • Accountable for developing and leveraging relationships in the field to drive clinical activity and maintain focus on the customer. • Provides feedback from clinical sites on the performance of the product to be incorporated in engineering designs or enhancements, assists research and development in evaluating concepts for new products, and considers potential modifications for existing devices while serving as a technical resource between engineering and the medical pacing community. • Provides prospective and real-time feedback to clinical study management in study design and document development. • Plays a critical role in educating customers, sales partners, and internal Clinical Research talent on the technology that they assist.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of clinical research, clinical specialist/field clinical engineer/clinical sales representative experience
  • Masters degree with 5 years of clinical research, clinical specialist/field clinical engineer/clinical sales representative experience
  • PhD with 3 years of clinical research, clinical specialist/field clinical engineer/clinical sales representative experience
  • Electrophysiology and cardiac ablation device training strongly preferred
  • Experience at Medtronic or within the medical device industry
  • Experience in the management of clinical devices
  • Experience in a Cath lab, biomedical engineering, hospital/clinic or medical sales
  • Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for clinical trials
  • Experience in clinical studies and/or trial site management/protocols
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional clinical partners/customers, physicians and/or medical sales colleagues in the healthcare industry

Quest Defense Systems & Solutions is supporting advanced turbomachinery and engine programs, and we’re looking for a Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) Engineer who can contribute to CFD and aero-thermal analysis across critical engine components. You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers, building models, running analyses, and helping solve real thermal challenges tied directly to hardware performance and reliability. This isn’t a siloed modeling role. You’ll be part of a collaborative team working closely with the customer—translating problems into analysis, identifying risks, and helping drive solutions that matter. - You’ll work on real gas turbine applications, not just theoretical studies - Exposure to full engine and secondary airflow systems, not just isolated components - Direct interaction with customer engineering teams - Opportunity to grow quickly in CFD, CHT, and aero-thermal analysis This role is remote with up to 10% travel. Due to the nature of this work, all candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
